RED DRIVE not reading with Mac OS 10.5.6

Hi, we are about to shoot our project in less than a day, in Kenya, East Africa with limited tech support.

but have been having problems with reading the RED DRIVE on a MacBook Pro 17in with 10.5.6.

It reads on a Macbook Pro 15in with 10.5.2 and on the RED ONE....

but we need to use that MacBook Pro 17in as a download station.

PLEASE advise, as quite time sensitive. Thanks.

Works fine here, 10.5.6, MPB 17 (the old one, not the unibody).
Over FW800, even without the wall wart.

Transfered 90 gig just yesterday.

Have you tried with the AC power adapter?

Is the drive reported in Disk Utility and/or have you attempted to mount the drive manually? Sometimes, if there is a power fall-off the drive can be unmounted and then refuse to mount on subsequent connections even if it's detected by the system and you may have to manually intervene.

When connecting a RED drive to a macbook pro or any other notebook supplying bus power, it's best to have the notebook connected to AC power or the drive connected to AC power. The RED drive pulls near the maximum power available over the FW800 bus and slight fall-offs can cause problems.

If you have a express card to esata adapter try that. Also try the FW400 port. Power up drive first then boot Mac Book Pro.

How is that going to work? Unless they're using a reverse-engineered cable. Then they're just on their own.

Sorry, like your Mac Book my head was not functioning correctly. esata is not an option in this scenario.

I have read in other threads people are having problems mounting FW800 with red drives and mac book pros but have had success with FW400.
