Oh my... Has anyone opened up a Red RAM?
If they have, they aren't sharing what's inside....

Anyone who owns one want to send me an email with a photo of the drives used in it?

Thanks!

Assumptions! If a super 35mm film frame is; 24.92mm X 18.67mm at four perforations, and if we were to assumed multiplier of ‘1.2’, then the frame size would be 29.904mm X 22.404mm. Still using the Arri Master Prime as an example, which has a 31mm diameter (or a lens of similar quality).

The frame size of an FF35 brain is 36mm X 24mm, we would be well within the area with our 31mm diameter, but at a greater magnification of ‘1.2’ (29.904mm X 22.404mm), and we could enjoy the benefits of a 16bit A/D, 13 stops of dynamic range, a normal ASA of 1200, all within the 6K environment. The actual recorded size will be much smaller than 6K because we’re not using the full sensor; it would be around 4983 x 3734. We can still go down on the height to accommodate the 1:85 frames. We still will have a much larger frame size than the S35 Epic Mysterium-x sensor, which is 30mm X 15mm.

We would have some ‘look around’ space mostly around the top and bottom where it’s most useful, and a tiny bit around the sides. Just thinking out-loud! If anyone has suggestions or thoughts on this, please ‘chime-in’! Thank-you.

Let’s not forget that this line of thought will become ‘mute’ when the FF35 lenses come out, or whatever Jim has in-stored for us!

Things have been quiet for a while

Things have been quiet for a while

Lately thing have been rather quiete, too many days have passed without any significant post! So, something must be ‘brewing’ in the ‘Red-Team’! Just waiting for the ‘next—shoe’ to drop. So, we wait.

Whatever happened to revealing info on the RED miniPrimes Jarred?

I don't know if this has been discussed in another thread....I
I work with documentaries and I would like to see lenses developed with AF because in certain situations, it is invaluable to forget about focus pulling.
I know the 8x fixed lens for Scarlet has AF, but I prefer to build a modular systems with the 2/3 rd brain.

Can anyone tell me which RED lenses are expected to have AF?

red ram backordered?

red ram backordered?

I will find out what is inside if I can get RED to ship mine. Does anyone know why the schedule says they are shipping, but when I ordered one my invoice says BACKORDERED!

that's a really good way to get yourself off the backorder list.....

Hahaha, wow. You're just gonna boot people for acting like...well, like people? Com'on guys. Does he even have a valid point, or is it some mistake on his/her part?

Really, there's no reason to question the pronoun...women typically aren't that overtly rude. :)

Has anyone opened up a Red RAM? Look at the price, then look at what I just described would cost now. :nerd: Could it be? Not too far.

I could be wrong, but I think Jarred might have been suggesting that publicizing how you are going to reverse engineer RED's products might not be the best way to stay in their good graces. Obviously, once you buy a product if you don't care about warranty privileges you can do whatever you want with it. But posting this intent on RED's own forums just seems silly.

Copy that.

Yeah, reverse engineering isn't going to be smiled upon in any development circle. For whatever reason, I completely glanced over that ridiculous comment. Jarred, my bad, proceed. Ha.

hmmm, interest seems to be fading, maybe you should make up another date or post a pic of nothing much to get things going again

somebody ban this lamer please... this is a real names forum for
real men and women...

please go to dvxuser to flaunt your childishness, its welcome there

How is opening a box and seeing what's inside "reverse engineering".

It's not exactly reverse engineering to open my dell and take a peek. It'll void the warranty but let's use the correct terminology. It might not even void the warranty. Most consumer advocacy laws now prohibit voiding the warranty for something which is unrelated to the problem.

For instance you can't put a sticker on an item and say removing the sticker voids the warranty if the problem isn't your fancy new toy being excessively sticky where the sticker used to be.

Not that I expect opening a red ram to would get you any close at all to building one yourself... Just saying in principle...
