hi all. cutting an online project that is 95% dvcpro hd 720p. have used fcp's log and transfer to bring red footage in at prores 422 HQ, however the resolution is still 2k as opposed to the project res of 720, so i'd like to use redcine to downres the red footage to 720, so my question is, if i'm exporting from redcine as quicktime prores 422, is normal quality level acceptable for an online edit? or do I need to go losless or high? thanks

If your going to color correct, in my opinion, you should work at a 10-bit resolution. For what it's worth, in my opinion, every job shot on Red requires color correction, it's the nature of the format and workflow. Since it's only 5% of your shots, keep the Red uncompressed 10-bit and render on the timeline. You will have so much more latitude when you color correct in comparison to the highly compressed dvcpro footage, which will pick up noise much more quickly as you work with the grades.

thanks, man. makes lots of sense to do it that way.

in general, what does the quality in redcine ouput mean? is "normal" acceptable for an online edit?

I believe it depends on the codec you select if it has any effect at all, but as a rule I set it to lossless.
