Just got my eimage tripod.

Loaded up with RR mattebox, 5" LCD, Red Cradle, Red Handle Mount and Viewfinder. Chucked on a Canon 24-70mm. Not really sure how much that weighs.

The tripod handled everything quite nicely. The counterbalance i would rate at about 15kg. Anything beyond would be a struggle.

All in all, a great tripod at that price point.

Looks nice.

Is the counter-balance strong enough that you could get it to cause your Red setup to drift upwards? Or do you find that the load drifts downward even on the highest counter-balance setting?

Does it pan smoothly all the way around 360 degrees? Any clicks or sticky moments?

Also, what is the range of motion like on that head? Can it tilt straight up, or straight down?

I'd be interested to know the answers to Lowkus' questions as well- I have my doubts about a tripod system that costs that much ...

Here's what i can say...

On the sticks with a tilt drag setting (it has 7 levels) of 4 and counterbalance setting of 6 (out of 8), the camera stays in any position i put it in. Whether its tilted up or down. It's quite impressive given the fact that i've not set it to maximum counterbalance and tilt drag.

Panning was smooth as any other head i've used. And i've used mainly only 150mm bowl heads with my cam.

Tilt range is about 60deg downwards and about 80deg upwards.

And also, i got a great discount from my local dealer. But he only ships to Australasia, and the Middle East as he says there are already dealers in North America and Europe.

If anyone might be interested, i can ask him for a Group Buy discount. But remember, he can only ship to Australasia and Middle East addresses.

What price point are we talking about for the group buy and where in Australia can we test it out?

Hi Jason,

I don't think there are any dealers as yet in Australia. The dealer here is trying to find partners there as well. As for the price, i've got to ask the shop. But i would say it's gonna be about USD$2400. But i think the dealer will only do it if there's a minimum order. Let me ask him and revert back.

A group buy would be nice. I take it we'd all be looking at getting the Carbon Camera Tripod Set 0771?

I'm a bit concerned about the shipping costs from China to the U.S., because it could end up being several hundred dollars. That might negate the benefits of the group buy. Then again, maybe I'm wrong.

Hi Lowkus,

Like i said in my previous posts. The tripod will be sent from Singapore. Not China. And also, the dealer here won't ship to United States and Europe. But to anywhere else in the world, it's USD$2400 inclusive of shipping. There are 5 units available for sale now.

Ah, I'd figured some sort of drop-ship situation might be in order. Ah well, never mind.
