Does anybody have a clue what parts (other than my R1 parts) I'll need to get it a basic Epic/Scarlet working?

Epic/Scarlet (parts I'll need to buy)
1. epic/scarlet body
2. lens mount
3. Redriser (to match present FF/MB)
4.....Redmote?....Redhandle?

RedOne (parts I already have)
1. lcd or/and evf
2. batttery mount and batteries
3. RedDrives/CF cards

I understand that the fps, pixel count, monitoring will be reduced but this information will act as a good start point.

Dave,

Dave, Epic X will get you the equivalent of a Red One body in terms of use and I/O. So PL lens mount, RedMote will be included.

The RedRiser or ET Hybrid looks like it'll be needed but frankly I'll be happy to switch to proper Arri locking standard which all our clients are used to.

Beyond that all Red One parts barring top mounts should work ok.

Red, please correct me if I'm wrong on this.

I was on crack writing this and thinking about data problems with R1 upgraded with 5K sensor and nooooo other new media. Yes, the new bodies with their (sm) intergrated memory would cope or buying an Epic X with CF recording module free would kinda sort me. But using the old R1 media would cap my bandwidth to what the Epic could put out.
But I'd still like to know in the scenario where you trade in your R1 for an Epic (or X, they'll be all X's), what additional components i'll need to buy to have it working at all.

Paul, where did you hear you'll get a Redmote(free) with an Epic X?
My understanding was you'd get a body, CF, I/O & battery modules only.

It's my feeling that if you trade in a R1 for an EpicX you'll still need to purchase:
1. lens mount
2. redmote or redhandle
3. Redriser (to have 15/19mm studio rods working)

Dave,

The epicX should come with a lens mount, otherwise a trade-in doesn't make much sense.

Also I slightly remember someone saying that the REDmote comes with the X trade-in as well, although I've been wrong before. But you never see a render without it, so I think that's also a clue.

Nice one Justin. And makes perfect sense from a upgrade perspective.

Even thou it's kinda weird Big Jon and Red.com don't mention this!

I can hear the conversation now....

Big J: oh Jim.....
Jim: (raises welding googles) What is it now.
Big J: Some dweebs on the forum say you mentioned they'd receive a free remote in the X deal.
Jim: I what!!!
Big J:..said you said a Redmote is included in the Epic X deal.
Jim:..um (thinks)...okay, I'll look into it.
(lowers googles and immediately burns thru cable on bench causing power to go out in building)
Right, where's my 9th Amendment post "Specifications are subject to drastic changes...count on it!"

I guess we'll wait and see.
Cheers,
Dave

But David, it really seems you would have no way to navigate menus without the RedMote. Plus we don't know how much, or how little, those units will do. There may even be a few or maybe two different kinds of RedMotes.

This makes me feel quite secure that they will be included, and that you will have control over all capabilities of your brain.
