hi, is it usual that if you send an item to red under warranty, that you have to take the return cost? or was it a mistake?

thanks for any information and experiences, regards xax

Red normally pays both ways. Check with your rep. if this didn't happen, or maybe it was just a mistake (or customs trying to charge you twice for importing the same item again, grrr!!).

From my happy recent experience (this week), Red pays both ways BUT you will have to repay customs and taxes since normally (maybe different depending on country laws but I doubt it) all exportations are FINAL. So basically you will repay customs and taxes again on the same item. Fedex offered me to open a temporary export file but the fees are astronomical and dissuasive (I think it's the point to limit commercial product transit under fake "repair" reasons). It was anyway cheaper to just repay taxes...

So basically, what you do is you check in with Red FIRST about your return/repair, they give you a reference number and Fedex account number to use to ship your items. They fix it or replace it and ship it back to you within a short time. It's free, but when it comes back, you're only charged for VAT and custom.

Hope this helps.
