I'm going to be shooting a short film on the Red in early summer, and I'm weighing my lens options. The local rental house has this set of Zeiss film primes. They have Cooke Series S4/i Prime Lenses, but the price difference is dramatic. What potential problems, if any, will I run into? Thanks.

EDIT: Apparently I was linking the wrong set of lenses. I was referring to the Zeiss standard speed lenses.

Unless you really need the extra stop of super speeds, you should have absolutely no problems. I have this exact set of lenses with which we have been shooting RED for the past year. I can't speak to the comparison between these Zeiss's and the Cooke S4/i's but I've been totally pleased at the quality of mine.

Zeiss Super-Speeds are great lenses, very sharp. They just get a bit mushy at f/2.0 and wider, but at f/2.8, they are as sharp as any modern Cooke S4 or Zeiss Ultra Prime, more or less (well, just maybe slightly less sharp). There may be a little more mismatching between the different focal lengths, subtle stuff like that. Your camera assistant should just spend some time in the prep getting a set that matches pretty well.

Great help, though I had the wrong link hyperlinked, I was referring to the Zeiss standard speeds, not the super speeds, though I would imagine what you said would probably apply.

Thanks
