I was thinking today about some potential uses I may have for Scarlet in the future, and one thing I end up doing every once in a while is quick and dirty talking head interviews. So this got me to thinking, one really nice feature would be to not have to find the beginning of each question from a 2 hour interview, which would be facilitated by markers or new clips. So, my question is, would there be a way that the Redmote, just sitting in my hand during the interview, could have a function to trigger the creation of a new RDC/R3D without actually stopping the record? I think it would be a great feature, and certainly helpful to me, and, I imagine, eventually find plenty of use beyond just interviews. Let me know what you all think.
Peace,

It is a great idea...love it! It might just be a firmware thing as well meaning it doesn't have to be a feature there on release but could come later

That's what I'm hoping, because it's definitely not a first priority in terms of release. I'd love to hear from RED about the interest/viability of this idea...

Great idea. Would be useful even in narrative work.

I wonder if the REDmote will work differently in 'STILLS' mode? At any rate, this could be a menu option and set to a user-definable button.

Would be awesome if this also had the capability to store customizable metadata for each marker in a pre-defined sequence (ie. A13, A14, A15...). Does that make sense?

It makes a lot of sense, and would be great. That would be similar to how the pre-record buffer chunks are recorded on the RED ONE if I understand the process correctly. So it does seem like all the ingredients are there, now it's just up to the magicians at RED to make it work!

Exactly what I was thinking as far as the functionality of pre-record working the same way as this.

wireless control of new clips would be great for script supervision when the acting runs into the next scene numbers as it so of ten does in digital prod. Editing assts everywhere will bless Jim

I am quite sure they already have this feature in there. Marks on the fly are a must.

I would love it if it worked so that script supervisors were able to drop a mark using a second RedMote, and then be able to type something up with a little qwerty keyboard plugged into their RedMote... and then hit a second button to close the mark, which would be saved in the spot it was dropped.

Take it to a new level if you want by having different types of marks. But that would involve the NLEs.

That and a great script supervisor.
