Hey all -

I'm extremely excited to unveil the new "making of" website for the short film "The Sheol Express", to be shot on RED. On this site, we hope to chronicle the pre-production, shooting, post-production, and distribution of this 23-minute NYU Thesis project.

I've leaned a lot here over the last year and a half, and being a part of the Reduser community, shooting with my RED, meeting many of you, and hearing about your projects has been great. I hope that this project will be interesting for you to follow, too.

On the blog, you’ll hear from Mike and Ryan (me!) - friends, Co-Writers and Co-Directors - Adam Raichilson, our producer; Jenn Durrett, Casting Director; Gian Marco LoForte and Carmen Cardenas, production designers; and many other members of the production team. Hopefully, we’ll give you a great, inside look at the making of a very unique short that will inspire you both creatively and personally.

“The Sheol Express” follows Owen, a weary traveler in want of rest who boards the Sheol Express, a fantastical train bound for a better life at the End of the Line. But when he hears of the rumored second-to-last stop, Owen must choose where he will disembark: at the guaranteed final station, or the fabled paradise prior to?

Later this week, we'll begin posting the first of our video "production diaries" - think Peter Jackson King Kong, or Four-Eyed Monsters podcast. I'm really excited about this, it should be really, really cool. Would appreciate comments, or, even more: linking to the blog from yours, or following us on our Twitter (see right side of blog.)

Thanks!

Cool story line. I freak out whenever there is a "we’re sorry, but you’re shut down” kind of situation"

I'll be sure to follow the progress.

Glad to see everything is still full steam ahead.....:)

Doc.

Thanks man. Yeah, things are coming along and we're really excited about being able to blog all of it!

Sounds like a great project, Ryan. :-)

Well, we haven't actually shot yet, but because of how shadowy and dark the production is, as well as the fact that we have a little money to do so, we decided to go with lenses that opened up more than our set of Nikons - Arri Ultra Primes.

This is nothing against the Nikon prime set, though, they are fantastic lenses, just not right for this application.
