An article on the use of canon lenses in Barry Lyndon is HERE. it mentions a the use of a canon f/1.2 for situations where the natural light was too dark - like the robbery scene which was shot in the woods on a very overcast day.

have you sold your set?

Yes he has to me.

I am now looking to sell them.

Why?

what'd you think of the k35 lenses? were you happy with them? I've been curious about that glass for a while...

I have used the K35s, very nice lens set, they are usually BNCR which is why they went out of fashion IMO

Honestly I havent tryed them out yet!!! But he ( The guy I bought them from ) sent a short film shot on it and it is really really nice, There really is a rich organic feel to them.

With this its no problem.

A couple of people have already gotten in touch about them off list so I will say my asking price here.

19.500USD for the set of 5...

I am no tech person so I am not going to be able to give super in depth answers about them. They are very good shape. No I have not had them tested etc.

WHy am I selling? I need the F_ing cash now like everyone else. I see they go for 4.500USD at Visual products these days. I ask for less then whats on the market and yes I want to make a profit off of them.

Had I been in another position financially at the moment I would hold on to them for the up coming Scarlet but that is not the case and so I need to let them go.

I could consider trading a Red Kit for them if someone has an extra used body etc and wants to swap.

No I am not selling them seperately only as a set.

Cheers,

DogDay.

Those are very interesting lenses and shame made no longer, but I think more realistic price would be in the 10-14.00 range.

As RED has announced a 5 lens set for s35 (http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=27080) just under 20K I think that price will be seen as too high.

They are beautiful lenses with a great history (can't argue with Barry Lyndon). But, the RED lenses will be available within a few months. And, I just don't see how optics from several decades ago can compete with newly designed optics, esp in a digital format where lenses have to be doubly-perfect.

Its going to be hard for anyone (including me) to justify buying a set of older lenses when you can get a brand new set, under warranty, and PL mount for the same price.

Few months... I heard this many times but I'm still waiting for the RED 18-85...
New set, or some Still Photo lenses Rehoused?
And rehoused by who, by Canon, by Zeiss, by Cooke... nope by Unknow branded RED...
I think, if the condition is good, are a price in line with the Superspeed, maybe better price-quality rapport.

A "RED Month" is about 4 or 5 months in the American calendar. So a couple months is closer to 6 months to a year. Not to mention there's a small chance they could compete with the quality of a lens manufacturer like Zeiss. Though they will be much cheaper and probably a great value to a filmmaker on a budget. I'm sure I'll go out for a set myself but I don't expect the same quality for a prime set that has more than twice the cost and I'm not expecting to see them in my hands in a couple months.

Thanks guys for the feedback, really. I have no problem with lowering the price especially if its in proportion to what they are actually worth. It wouldn`t feel right to rip someone off. You guys know better than I do about these things so I am willing to listen.

About actually getting things sold its one thing discussing its another actually pulling the trigger.

To cut through that though I think lowering to a starting price of 12.000USD and giving it untill the end of next week and who ever is serious will make a best offer, if anyone wants to cut the line and grab them then first to put 16.000Usd on the table gets them at once. And that will be the cap.

Thats roughly 6.000USd less then what Visual Products is asking and 4.000USD more than what I paid. So maybe everyone can be happy about this if there is a real buyer out there.

If no one here steps up with real cash by the end of next week I am grateful for the feedback and advice and will try my luck on the open market and put them up on Ebay.

Fair enough?

Cheers,

DogDay.
