  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I am going to 1st a RED shoot and was curious what functions other than focus, zoom, and aperture can be remotely changed with RED? Steadicam shoot. The DP wants to know if shutter speed can be ramped wirelessly. I said no, but wanted to double check here.... also, the ISO can't be ramped either right?

He wants to transition from outdoors to indoors and not ramp iris.

Thanks!

Taken from the Ops Guide (www.red.com/support)

Record: starts standard mode (video and audio) record. Subsequent trigger stops record.
Pre-Record: activates Pre-record. Subsequent triggers start / stop record.
Timelapse: activates Timelapse. Subsequent trigger activates one-shot or burst recording.
Ramp: initiates variable frame rate ramp speed change.
Shut Down: initiates a controlled camera power down
Play Clip: causes the selected Clip to play back at normal speed
Next Clip: cues the selected clip to end. If at end, cues to beginning of next clip.

Just a side note , Ramp is just possible one time from a given framerate over a given time to another given framerate which you can setuo in the varispeed menue, not possible to ramp "back" to the original framerate at present.

Hope that helps
Manuel

Frame rate stays the same.

Looking to confirm that remote ramping/changing of shutter and ISo is not possible. Yes?

Curious - why doesn't he want to do an iris ramp? That's how it's done in film... You can't ramp stocks...

You are correct, you can not ramp ISO/shutter. Shutter is finite.
