  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

$699 5.6 inch 1024x600 monitor

Not if you are looking to get the menus. it needs to support 1280x848 in DVI mode. The HDMI input on this monitor won't support that data. If you just want to get an image to it, then it's probably okay.

i still say that luis carrion monitor is still the best. But his lack of communication is what put everybody off. He's losing sale somehow

The Carrion is one of the only small monitors to support the menu data via HDMI. But delivery times have been problematic recently so you would need to contact the vendor directly. Personally, I would post something in the Buy/Sell section asking if anyone is looking to sell their 1st generation 5.6" Red LCDs and then make an offer if they are available.

no workaround.. RED lcd gets info from the RED LCD lemo port..
only work around is finding a LCD with HD-SDI.. then you can get the menu.. but only if you dont have a evf and red lcd running... RED EVF and the HD-SDI monitor = menu

Yes, I've read (FAQ). But HDMI too, no?

What's that 1280x848 in DVI mode?

Is it so difficult to get going w/ a cheaper monitoring option?

Van, I don't know about the 5.6" monitor from IKAN, but I know the 8" will not work with RED. I stopped by IKAN a couple of months ago to check it out and they told me that somebody had brought their RED in and hooked it up to the 8" monitor. Apparently, it wouldn't show any picture at all. I assume the 5.6" would have the same problem.

I can tell you first hand that the IKAN V8000HDMI does NOT work with the RED ONE's HDMI output. The owner of the company assured me it would before shipping it to me. When I complained that it did not work with the RED. He replied that it did not. When I reminded him that he sold it to me specifically for use with my RED, he apologized and said he would get back to me right away. That was 3 months ago. :(

I just sent another email yesterday (third follow-up) hoping to finally get the matter resolved.

As someone else on RedUser pointed out one time, I KAN NOT recommend IKAN. However, if they do hear about this and finally resolve the matter professionally, I will update this post and let everyone know that they at least came through with a refund or a shipped me an updated model that will support the RED.

Michael how much did you pay for that monitor?
Do you know if the Marshall V-R70P-HDA 7" LCD works with the RED One?
'cos if it does, we can exchange:wink:

I bought it with a kit that has a case and etc. for around $1,100 I think. Might be willing to trade if I can't get resolve. PM me.
