Hello,

My RED arrived for a few days now and after playing with it for a while i decided to download the software to see how it works and holds up on my machine.
The problem is it won't start. After I double click on the executable the screen goes blank as if loading then I get the "redcine needs to close..." error message .
Are there some system requirements I need to fulfill ? I ahve a dual-core Intel 3.2 with 2 gigs of ram. I also installed on anothem machine with a similar configuration and I get the same result.

What's wrong ?
Thanks

yep...those might have been important too...:shifty:

Windows XP 32bit serviced packed 3 and fairly updated.

Nvidia 8800 GTS 320 RAM driver 181.20

I don't know how to get a logfile but Windows says somethin like this:

AppName: redcine.exe AppVer: 1.0.0.1 ModName: msvcr90.dll
ModVer: 9.0.30729.1 Offset: 00058d7a

don't know the configuration of the other machine that i tried it on

thanks

Hmmm... ok... Nothing jumps out at me yet.

Logfiles are in:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\REDCINE\Settings\logs

They are just text files.

does anybody have a solution for this ? please ? :help:

Try REDAlert.

that is not a solution and I don't have a Mac.

Maybe you know someone with a Mac? Just to find out if the files are OK.

Nomad, the footage is not important. As i've said i just got my RED camera. I want now to make my own workflow and learn a bit how to work with the software provided on my own machine.
I also installed redcine on a friend's machine with Vista installed and it worked.
I really don't know what to do anymore. Maybe reinstall XP ?

Well, then neither do I. But you need to understand that REDCine alone is not a full workflow anyway. And, from reading here I conclude that it has quite a few problems with all the different PC configurations out there. A clean re-install might help.

If a Mac is not an option for you, I'd look into CS4 by Adobe. I tested it on a Mac and it works quite well here, even if I like to stay in FCP for editing, I'm glad to get full RED quality into After Effects. Premiere Pro should be a good low-cost option on the PC as well.

Yep,
that was the next step (using the adobe workflow) . I just wanted to use redcine too. I'll try reinstalling it after i upgrade and reinstall my OS.
Thanks anyway for your suggestions.
