I have just released ColorFixer.

ColorFixer is a small utility for fixing the "looping bug" in Apple Color projects.
Color Fixer is based on research by Nick Shaw, as detailed in this post
http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=26474

You can download from my website (http://www.daun.ch/software/").

Since we still have little experience with how well this works I strongly urge you to make a backup copy of the Color project before running ColorFixer on it.

Cheers,
Hans

Hans-Georg,

It worked like a charm on my Mac Pro. Thank you very much for all of your work.

Sorry for the ignorance post here, but could someone kindly explain how I am supposed to use this new utility ColorFixer? I'm coming into this late and I read the other thread that this little utility is based off of and I don't really understand how it works. Again, sorry for coming in late on this and any help is greatly appreciated!

Mike,

ColorFixer works by changing the XML files inside a Color project file (as described in Nick Shaw's post).
You would normally use it as follows
- in FCP, "send to Color"
- close Color
- find the Color project file (usually in ~/documents/Color Documents/)
- make backup of Color project file
- launch ColorFixer and click "Fix Color Project"
- select the Color project file
- ColorFixer processes the Color project and reports its progress
- read end of progress log and check whether your clips have been successfully changed
- double click Color project file and work in Color

I hope this helps.
Let me know if you need more info.

Cheers,
Hans

Ah ha! Thanks for the detailed explanation! I probably would have figured it out but I'm still on 10.4.11 (I know, "get with the times"). Seems the utility doesn't work with 10.4. Thanks again for the explanation.

Just ran a couple of tests with some bad FCP to Color sequences I had. This fixed it BEAUTIFULLY! Thank you so much!

yeah, cheers for Nick!

Great stuff Nick, Hans, Kaku and everyone who made this possible--a fantastic and sooo quick and simple workaround.

Hans, you rock! ColorFixer saved the day, as I am starting a grading project that was cut with the F proxies (whoa). Thanks, I will donate for this and Clipfinder as soon as we get paid.

James, I didn't do anything for this one, but I'm going to cover ClipFinder and the ColorFixer on my monthly article (sorry in Japanese) on VideoAlpha magazine next month.

I will also include the instruction for Japanese readers to donate to Hans.

Hans,

I noticed that probably, after fixing the Color project with ColorFixer, reconforming with FCP XML does not work. Do you think this is the case?
