Syncing Timecode between two REDs

I recently shot with two REDs syncing them together via the Timecode Cable. The timecode matched up and we disconnected the cable; at that point the timecode started drifting over the course of several hours.

(On a side note, the camera receiving the timecode would not record while the cable was still attached. In fact it would crash, sometimes at the point of pressing record and sometimes it would crash on it's own without anyone pressing anything.)

Is there a way to sync two reds without a TC Generator? If not, would the Deneke TS-C be a solution. Can the TS-C provide TC for two cameras simultaneously?

Make sure whichever camera is set to jamsync has got TC output turned off, and whichever camera is the "master" clock is not set to jamsync.

Also, you have to enable timecode output on the "master" as well.

Strange, i had no problems connecting two reds in a shoot with a cable staying on it all the time.
I used timecode and not edgecode, master and slave, nice chain visible when you connect the two camera's.

Also use with sound two clocks getting there signal from the audio man.
Worked also perfectly fine.

Are your camera's in everything the same like build and so?

I tried it again last week, two REDs with the same build, connected via timecode cable but the timecode still drifted from each other. I also saw the chain icon graphic as well.

I'm packing up for a two camera shoot this afternoon and wil triple check my settings:

Master-
Enable Timecode
Clock NOT set to Jamsync
Use timecode NOT edgecode

Slave-
TC output turned OFF

I will post the results when I get back...Thanks!
