  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

For Sale. ARRI BP5 BRIDGE PLATE 19mm Bars.

The Arri label says BP5 Bridge Plate. As for fitting a RED camera I am not sure but Red users seem to buy them. Maybe somebody will give you and me the info on how they do it? Maybe a offset plate?
Cannot be more help.

The Arri base plates will work with RED, but the distance from optical center to the rods is off spec by a few millimeters (I don't recall how much exactly). Probably not a big deal as there is enough room for adjustment in most mattebox, follow focus and motor mount systems anyway to compensate.

Simon is right. The BP-5 shown here is for 15mm studio offset rods. You can clearly see in the straight-down view from the top that the mount screws for the camera are offset to the side.

The BP-5 is for 19mm rods and was designed for Arri 535 etc. The BP-3 is for 15mm rods. 19mm rods are centred to the lens, 15mm rods are offset to the lens.
The mount screws are offset on the BP-5 as camera mounting threads were originally set for 15mm rods.
The BP-5 has an option for S35 centre.
I have not used it with a Red One so cannot say if it will work.

Ummmm.....

You're right about the camera mounting threads being offset on the Arri cameras and on the BP-5. I had it backwards in my brain.

But this is interesting... Click on the main features tab.

Arri has the model numbers transposed on their site and in their new printed brochure pamphlets. Whoops. :)

Hey Tony,

Does this plate have an option for center mount as Nick mentioned above? Because if the mounting screws are permanently offset, it won't work with the RED One without an adapter plate.

Hi Jeff,
I post a topshot for you and others to note.
The plate has 3 screws which when removed allow the unit to be turned 90> so it has S35 offset. And maybe a slim interface plate is required between Red camera and BP5.
