I came across a company from Argentina called Basson - makers of affordable camera stabilization systems. I see the Silver Arrow 925 Model as being adequate for the RED. Anyone have any experience with this company? Recommendations?

You will be disappointed with anything other than a real rig. Ie, tiffen, GPI Pro, Ultimate, Mk-V, Actioncam. Steadicam systems are very precise machining intensive, which costs a lot of money. There really is no way to make a good rig for cheap.

Actually there is.
Look at Movcam.com
I have been an op since 95 , dealing with CP rigs.
Now I have a Movcam d204 and Iam very pleased with it.
Its machining and finish is precise and very nice , carbon fiber telescopic post, frictionless precise gimbal, modular rod carbon system for battery mount and monitor,
12,24 vdc varius outputs,14AWG internal core, hd-sdi compatible, reasonable performance arm, comfortable nice vest.
though it took them quite some time to learn, they now produce good piece of equipment in very good prices and from my personal experience they stand behind their products. I have asked for 14awg power core, from the 22awg they had, so they did and also changed all the electronic boxes and send them very quickly as that was an importand upgrade for hungry hd cams.
Do not confuse them with other chinese manufacturers.

Constantine

Three words: forget that thing!!! Get a Actioncam, or, if you have the money, a Tiffen Archer/Clipper/Ultra2, GPI Pro, Sachtler Artemis EFP/HD/Cine or Baer Bel Camtech! (Please)

There has also been good feedback on Glidecam's V25 system.
