OK... here it is - the last of my cine lens inventory. Once these are gone...

Carl Zeiss Distagon 1,2/18mm T1.4 Mk. I, FULLY overhauled (down to the last screw). This lens has 80mm front and very trick integrated anodized aluminum focus gear (one piece with the focus scale, not held with set screws). Can be supplied with Bayonet or PL mount. This lens is currently being serviced and will be available in about a week or so.

18mm T1.4 $6495.- (in PL), $5995.- (in Bay)

Think my price is too high? Visual Products is asking $7200.- for the same lens!

Carl Zeiss Distagon 1,2/35mm T1.4. Again fully overhauled, all details as above. The availability of this lens is pending. If parts are in short supply, I will use them to repair the 18mm, and the 35mm will become my collimator test lens.

35mm T1.4 $4645.- (in PL) $4150.- (in Bay)

Techno-Nikkor 20mm T2.8 in BNCR mount. This is a modern lens with Nikon Integrated Multi-Coating. This lens was completely re-housed by Technovision. It is a large diameter prime lens, similar to Ultra Prime (100 mm front diameter). Focus scale in feet.

This lens CANNOT be converted to PL. It is ideal for a RED user that has set up his camera with BNCR mount and has a package of BNCR lenses but is missing this focal length.

Nikkor 28mm T2.8 $1495.- (BNCR only)

Please PM me if you are interested. I can e-mail photos of the lenses and answer any questions.

I have confirmed that I have enough parts to build the above two lenses as complete fully overhauled T1.4 Super Speeds.

I will consider reducing the price for a buyer that will be willing to pay a 20% deposit and wait about two weeks for delivery. This is to cover the time/cost of the complete overhaul/refurbishment.

If I have to front this cost, then the price will remain as mentioned in the previous post.

These lenses are in *very* short supply. This is a great opportunity if you are missing one or both focal lengths. I may also be able to get the 25, 50 and 85mm to match.

I also have a full set of T1.4 Super Speeds that will be available in a few weeks. I will make a separate post with the details of that set.

In 50mm?

The Zeiss Distagon 18mm T1.4 has been sold. The Distagon 35mm T1.4 is available, as is the Techno-Nikkor 20mm T2.8. Prices remain the same as in the original post.

The Techno-Nikkor 20mm T2.8 BNCR is pending sale.

My only remaining cine primes in stock:

Carl Zeiss Distagon 35mm T1.4 Bayonet/PL, fully overhauled (at Duclos) with 80mm front and custom aluminum focus gear (no set screws). $4150.- in Bayonet, add $495.- for PL Mount.

I will also have a full set of T1.4 super speeds, fully overhauled, to be announced soon....

Darryl,

Sending you an e-mail now. The lens is still available. I need for Duclos to take the photo once the lens is assembled.

ARRI 24mm T4 for ARRI Tilt-Shift set

Zeiss 35mm Sold, Some items still available...

Zeiss 35mm Sold, Some items still available...

The Zeiss Distagon 1,2/35mm T1.4 has been sold.

The ARRI 24mm T4 for ARRI Tilt-Shift set is still available. Please note that this lens will only work with the Tilt-Shift bellows set as it has a special mount and no focus mechanism. Of course, you could build your own Tilt-Shift system if you are a mad scientist like me.

The full set of Zeiss T1.4 primes will be available soon. I am now about to go into final assemly and testing. These lenses are in extremely good mechanical and optical condition. I have never encountered a set of T1.4's like this. They will be a superb set once completed. I will post some photos when they are ready.

At the moment my website is unavailable. I am moving it to a new server (you will probably see a "parked domain" page. I'm planning a big update of the website in January.

CinemaTechnic.com is back up and running. I will be working with web designer and plan a major overhaul of my website starting in January. On 1 Jan 2009 CinemaTechnic.com will have been up for 8 years, so it really is time for an update.

Tomorrow will be my last "official" working day for the year. However, I am not accepting any new business at this time in order to complete jobs that have fallen behind schedule.

I will still respond to inquiries about items that I have for sale, and will be posting some photos of this very nice Zeiss T1.4 HS prime set (Super Speeds - B-Speeds or Mk. I depending on how you look at it - we won't get into that argument).

I'm planning some significant business changes next year. I'll announce that when the time is right.

Happy Holidays!

Techno-Nikkor 20mm T2.8 SOLD

Techno-Nikkor 20mm T2.8 SOLD

Just wanted to post that the Techno-Nikkor 20mm T2.8 has been sold. Since these lenses are comparatively rare and are interesting to RED users that have BNCR mounts and/or are interested in stills based lenses that will cover the FF35 sensor when introduced.

A photo of this lens is below. I made and installed the black delrin follow-focus gear. The lens also received Emralon treatment, and has had the focus scale and identifying engravings re-painted.

Enjoy!

Technovision...

Technovision...

I got a chance to test the Nikkor 20mm T2.8 on a lens projector (another Century just like mine but with the BNCR adapter which I don't have).

I was surprised at just how well it performed. It may only open to 2.8, but the sharpness was equivalent to a Zeiss HS prime. Distortion was low but not totally eliminated. But you would not notice that unless all you shoot is movies of test charts.

I actually have another Technovision prime here, a 20mm T2.0 Canon. Trouble is, the rear focus helix is damaged beyond repair (the removable part that incorporates the BNCR mount).

I believe that this lens could be converted to PL by making a new rear helix. But this would require cutting the thread, which has to be done on a big and very precise thread cutting lathe (my Schaublin can cut threads, but that is the one thing the machine does not excel at). This is a job for a Hardinge or a Monarch - or a big Schaublin.

If someone is seriously interested, I could inquire with a top-notch job shop to see if they can cut the thread for me. Obviously we would make it with an ARRI PL mount.

This lens appears to have optics that are dedicated cine optics (short back focus and S35 coverage). If there is some interest, I will hold it up to the lens projector to see how big the coverage is.

If interested, please PM me.
