Hi Guys !

I tested the i-pins and saw following:

When I put in the RED Zoom 18-50 I see the lens data on the display. If i put a Cook S4i in or a Zeiss Master Prime, I see it NOT. Dont know why.
When I have the Red Zoom in and see the lens data displayed and record a clip, where can I get the info out? Via Redrushes and creating a CSV?

Please an advice....

thx

Rainer

Lens data

Lens data

Re the lenses not displaying information, its most probably a software bug in the camera Rainer.

We are investigating some of these kind of issues at the moment, so we'll take a closer look at this.

What model of Cooke lens is it?

Hi!

We just got back out RED ONE from the update. I put the 18-50mm zoom (was also send in along the body) to the body and enabled lense data display in preferences.

Nothing is displayed on screen yet?
I read from others there should be info, but I can't see anything.

Am I doing something wrong here?

How exactly do I need to set it up?

I found it rather cool to have it enabled, as I can select showing in "Meter" rather than the "food" thats on the lense (germany, though...).

But no success.

I hope its not a fault anywhere. I guess it has been carefully tested at Pinewood facility for working right. And as it was a lense/body combo, it should work I suppose.

Please give me some advice,

Axel

Are you on B.17 v.3.4.1?

Did you enable it in the camera System > Setup > Preferences > Display > menu?

I am getting my camera back from the audio board upgrade tomorrow. Going to test it out then....

Hi Curran,

I have B.17 and 3.4.1 on the system. I did enable it to the best of my knowledge as you explain it. Nothing comes up yet :(

Anyone seeing this?

Unfortunately there was no kind of report what has been done and checked when the camera was returned. I suppose it has been checked at the RED facilitiy in Pinewood Studios before returning it to us. It was all well packed, so I can't believe that it could be a transport damage or the like.

Maybe I am just doing something wrong.

Cheers,
Axel

Hi Antony,

I checked that, the lense is correctly installed :) but thanks for reminding.
No, it seems something else is wrong. I guess I need to call them and maybe have to send it (lense and body) back. I really wonder why it has been send out non functional then.

What a pitty...

Cheers,
Axel

Not sure if you've done this but you have to enable both Lens Data in the display options AND the S4i option in Maintenance or Preferences, not sure which right now as I'm not in front of a camera.

Hi Paul,

thanks for the info. I checked and it was also switched on.
But for some reason, after repeating tests over and over, unmounting and mounting optics for several times it apparently works now. Seems to be a contact issue.

I will have an eye on this.

Info to John Restivo:
If you read this, my phone call to your phone box is out of date now. No need to call me back anymore, we are up and running.

Thanks people!

Hi All,

again me :)

We did a camera training today and used the lense data in EVF and LCD a bit. We felt its a bit slow on updating sometimes, not really "realtime" when you know what I mean. I have no idea about the protocol used, but it really felt slower than I would have expected.

I don't really want to moan about this, as its a great help anyway. I just wonder if it could be quicker and more instant updating the numbers on screen.

Apparently we had two occasions where nothing was coming up and switching on/off the /4i option in the menu seem to have brought it up again.

Did anybody else see the same things, or is it just me?

Sometimes its hard to check a new tool without a second camera as reference...

Thanks for finally implementing this feature!
Axel

Is this possible/going to be possible?

Apparently.

I received the following in an email from Red:

Currently at this time our applications do not have a way of viewing lens ipin metadata. Hopefully in the near future we will have this feature and there are currently 3rd parties with our SDK that are working on this for their applications.

? I see the data in RedCine (somewhat), but are you guys saying there is no way of burning the info onto clips? I'd really like to be able to do that.

Hi there,

I also have the same data problem. I can see it with my Red 18-50, but when i put my fresh out of the box Cooke S4i's on there's nothing. Any news from a software side of things? I'm on Build 17 too. Any one tried it with 18?

Cheers,

Lachie

Same problem -- just got my camera back from the upgrade program (which was painless and fast) -- but the lenses don't register. I've toggled the various options (display and remote) back and forth to see if I could get anything.

Just updated my Cookes to the latest firmware to be sure. I have S4/i primes (serials in the 900's) 18,25,35,50,75. None display any info. I've tried both build 17 and build 18 beta. :nerd:

If this is still a known bug to be fixed, thats fine. just let us know that it's a bug and document it please.
