Hi guys !
I just noticed that letus came out with a new and affordable relay lens for the b4 which is almost 4000 bucks to get the 35mm look + the cost of the camcorder , that's really a waste of money.
sony , panasonic and etc ... have to work hard because RED has weapons of mass destruction , no kidding !!!

Which weapons would those be?
The Red one is considerably more expensive than a 35mm DOF adapter.
And at this time the new offerings from Red are nonexistent.

I am talking about the Scarlet s35 or 2/3" cinema which will be much more cheaper than buying a dof adapter + camcorder 2/3" + a letus relay .

Daniel, don't you realise it? David will only believe that the Scarlet will be as good as we all think when he has seen one. He knows what you are talking about and he knows that you will be right with your Idea. I don't get this neysayers. Was the same as the One came around. Even now I meet people who don't belive that the R1 is true and available to buy. I think they don't want their World they know see collide (again).

Imho the Scarlet will be to the Prosumer Market what the One is to Film. A good alternative that is cheaper but doesn't work the way we are used to work with cams.

And yeah, I think this stuff is way to expensive when the Scarlet hit's the floor.

thanks at least someone who understand my pov .
David , I guess u still in love with your old equipment ,yes i said it " old " because this is a new generation . please accept this !!!

Daniel,
I don't really see the point of your post. For those of us that are working Dp's, equipment like this could prove very useful. I use my letus adapter all the time on my hvx200, but I also use many other cameras that exist now. Yesterday was a varicam, last week was a HPX-500, the week before that HVX/letus, before that, my red camera. Red One is not right for everyone and, quite possibly, neither will scarlet be. I'll upgrade to an epic-x when the time comes but, in the meantime, I'll use the tools that exist and the right one for the job.
Regards,
Shane.

Guys I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I work for a living using available tools.
I shoot with a Red One, 435, BLII, SDX900, F900, XH-A1, and other available tools.
The Scarlet is not available, so I can't shoot with it, just like you can't shoot with it.

I'd love to sit and chat, but I have to go voice a couple of national TV spots with an OLD Neumann microphone so I can pay for the timing belt change on one of my OLD Ferraris.

Good Luck!

Yeah, okay. In the meantime I also use my 35mm Adapter on my Sony, that's right. But this doen't change the Fact that something new announced for now has to challenge itself with the Red-Stuff. If I'd need a cam I'd be interested, bus as there is no need to update now I can wait for Scarlet to shake the Market a bit :-)

Wow, it's like there is a war going one here. Personally, I make equipment (Zacuto USA) yet I have no loyalty to my own Zacuto brand. If I'm doing a shoot I get the right piece of equipment for the right gig: Zacuto, Chrosziel, RED, I don't care. In our rental department we have every brand on the market and some of my own rental guys send gear out with competitive brand accessories on them because they like them. I'm cool with that. There is an ass for every saddle.

There has been some talk on some of the message boards about the new Letus 2/3” B4 relay lens. I know that Hien had made a post a post on DVXuser about his new relay lens and it was receive with mixed opinions by DVXuser members. One of the issues is that people were concerned that it was not affordable compared to a RED/Scarlet. And my response to that is that it is really a different kind of camera then those. RED/Scarlet cameras are really filmmaking, spotmaking cameras. RED/Scarlet’s are not run’n’gun docu, ENG type shooting cameras. Can they be used for that, yes. Are they perfect for that, No.

A 2/3” camera is designed to be a portable run’n’gun camera. Now with the addition of the B4 relay, DOF adapter, LWS support kit and 35mm optics (approx. $9-$11K in total) it can be both an run’n’gun shooting camera and double duty as a excellent filmmaking camera. Again, every camera is not for everyone or every situation. Jens, my DP, and I have used 2/3” cameras for 27 years and we love them. The durability, larger chip size, expanded menu options, excellent color and gamma control, lots of inputs and outputs, great viewfinders, comfortable to operate, the ability to handhold all day and tons more have made this design last over 30 years.

There are situations when I love the RED and situations where I love my little Canon HF10 and situations where I love my ENG camera. It’s just another option out there and for shooters who own or use 2/3” ENG cameras (sports, news, docu, corporate, broadcast, event, reality, correspondence) This is going to give you a new tool in your bag for creative cinematography. I could see broadcasters who are really vested in 2/3" using this option which is less than the cost of one ENG HD lens to be able to shoot cool film like interviews and still have the abiltiy to put the ENG lens back on and go news gathering. It's not always about if you spend 35K you could have had a RED. For many the RED is not the right type of camera and the ENG is and vice versa.

Check out this video I made with Jens and Scott, Introducing 2/3” B4 cinematography, http://vimeo.com/3093799 I think you will find it interesting and informative. Again, this is not hurting RED in any way. I'm not against RED. I love everyone, peace, Steve Weiss
