Hi!
It seems I can't find the detailed spec of the RED CF, notably the 16Gb one. How fast is it really? (how many Mb/s?) Does it allow us to use the whole R1 capacity, or any restriction using the CF instead of RedDrive?

How a 16Gb - 300x (45Mb/s) would work with R1?

Could someone explain me how I can calculate the weight of Red footages accoding to its duration and formats?

Hey guys, Red is too exciting, I've got plenty of questions but I'll stop here (for now :pinch: ) !!

Thanks

Hi Cécile,
don't really know about the detailed spec of the red cf, but if you are looking for a third party card the reference seems to be the lexar 300x 8gig.
take a look at rob galbraith's performance database:
http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/multi_page.asp?cid=6007

but remind that substained rates are not really important from a photo pov.

as for the weight of Red footages, red codecs are wavelet compressed so it depends on what is actually filmed, but if you have a iphone a strongly recommend you the iSee4k app! it gives you an estimation of the weight fonction of the redcode rate, fps and resolution.

best!

Thanks,
thought I would never get any answer...
How come we can't get the detailed spec of the Red CF? Are they keeping it secret so we don't go for a third party one? hm...

I'll take a look at this app although I don't have an iPhone (YET)!
