***CHRONICLES of PERSEVERANCE ~ A Video Synospis***

If you're up my way Ketch, feel free to drop by!

Graeme

I know for sure I'll be visiting Alberta, and possibly Vancouver, but wanted to take a short trip to Alaska as well, must take a Photographic journey and have lots of material to paint when back home, since I'll spend few months in the hospital... again :(

Forgot were you are :)

***EDIT*** Just saw that you are in Ottawa :)

ciao

I'm in Ottawa, our Capital City. That's a long way from Alberta and Vancouver. I'd recommend you don't come to Ottawa for a good photography location. It's all flat here. Ok, it's not as flat as Saskatchewan, but it's pretty boring. Over into Quebec up the Gatineau hills is nice in autumn though.

DP and editor notes

DP and editor notes

Thanks for everyone's kind words about the project, and for your support of Ketch. He really is amazing. I showed my kids the project after I finished the edit, and they almost cried (10 and 12 years old). They thought Ketch must be a superhero to have survived everything.

I'm posting a quick note because each time I see something I like from a fellow Red user, I want to know technical details of the shoot, and everyone usually shares the info. Here it is, and thanks again for your support of our work.

Red #1240
Lomo 75mm standard speed OCT-19 mounted lens, shot wide open (F2.2, I believe)
Monitor - HDMI to DVI Hyundai monitor
Lighting setup - can be seen in the pix in the beginning of this post - Key light was an overhead 4-bank Kino Flo. Fill light was on the ground aimed at his profile, also a 4-bank Kino Flo, both with daylight bulbs.
Audio - Sennheiser unidirectional boom mic, passed thru a Fostex PD-4 DAT recorder into channel 1 on the Red (the captured audio sounds better than the version I used for the down-res)
Editing and camera work - I am a simple editor and wanted the feel to be as gentle as the subject matter and storyteller (Ketch). He didn't want his face to be seen on camera that much during the filming (Ketch being modest), but he trusted me to sneak in a few shots of his face on the last take.
Acting - the script seen in the photo was not used. He reviewed notes, took a deep breath, and told the story from his heart as he remembered it. I think that's what made the difference.

I don't post much, but I have posted on your vimeo page and I will post here again.
You are a real inspiration, Ketch! Never give up your dream. You have what it takes to turn your dream into a real thing. Go, Ketch! And all the best from Seattle. Ciao, Ciao!

Ketch, I've had a lot of feedback from family and friends who say you are in their prayers.

Ketch, you inspire everyone to live life to the fullest, because you just never know. You never know when that final day will come. You never know when the last time you'll see your family, see your friends.

I hope your film gets made, but if for some reason it doesn't, know you've already inspired us with your story.

Stay strong, and don't lose sight of your dream. We'll miss you in Vegas this year.

Thank you Steve, inspiring it is an important apart of what I do, and why I do it, and I'm glad you think so.

It will be made Steve, count on it, no matter how, no matter when, it will be made!!

I'm not yet sure 100% that I will not be here for NAB, still trying to see what I can do to stay a little longer and if I do move to Vancouver, BC for awhile, I'll be very close and can always fly in for the event.

ciao

Ketch,

I said this in my previous message but I figured that I'd post in your thread as well; you are an inspiration. You and a handful of other people on this board help keep me excited to pursue my filmmaking dreams.

I can't believe all that you have gone through and still have a good spirit within you. I can't wait to see you complete this movie! Keep us all updated.

Omar the words you wrote on your PM, were just beautiful, and they touched me, both because you said things that I wished for people to say and or write, about the story and what the story did to them or in which way effected them.

This movie is the absolute most important thing I have in my life now (no girl :( ) and I have the outmost dedication to the making, so I hope that soon I will deliver in my promise to you all.

I know it will be a very wild ride for me, but I also know now more then ever before that I'm not longer alone, I have an entire community of absolutely Fantastic people here, and that you can't buy.

ciao

Some make their mark on this world with a smudge of ink. You Ketch have thus far left brilliant brush strokes of unique color and character. It will be indescribably enlightening to see this masterpiece when you finally step back from your canvas of life and declare this painting "fin"

We love you Ketch. Let me know how I may be able to personally assist your efforts-
