How ya doin everyone. I think this is one of the last music video i try and do on my own. I mean shoot and direct completely by myself. too many hats to wear.

It's gonna be kinda cool to let you guys see my work before and after a cinematographer.

If your interested in seeing the vid PM me and i'll give you the password.

Why password protect? just curious

I like people watching my videos. but getting some feedback and also making contacts is very important. theres no point in always posting high budget projects here for people to gawk at and say WOW. I think "shot on red" should also be where people have something constructive and helpful to say. just like all the professionals have discussions with David Mullen. He is here to teach because he's an awesome individual. He's not here for people to just look and say "thats awesome." Or else you can just call this site "REDYOUTUBE.net"

just trying to get some interaction thats all.

Here's some interaction for ya:

Dump the password if you want me to see it, and/or comment on it.

You are asking me to put in my time and give you feedback other than "Wow that's cool" (Assuminig of course that kind of feedback applies).

And you know what? I am HAPPY to do that for you. But I don't have time to jump through un-nessesary hoops in the process. So sadly, I cannot view your video since my only free time to do so was RIGHT NOW. And that time has passed.

Don't knock youtube my friend.. There's a reason it works.. It's there when we need it, not when it tells us to need it.

Have a good night.

Jay

Mr. Kelly. Thank you very much for your time and interest. Your time as anyone else's time is truly appreciated. But just as i value your time please value mine in posting this and asking for your interaction. If you want the password all you have to do is ask. but I do apologize if i misunderstood your request for your password in this comment. I don't mean to waste anyones valuable time.

On a side note. I was not knocking youtube. I merely stated that this website has a tendency to feel like youtube. where people just go to watch videos. I want to deviate a little from that and create a little more interaction. that is why i chose this forum. I trust and value the opinions of the many professionals that subscribe to REDUSER. Nevertheless i love youtube its one of many great ways to be seen online. especially since they've gone HD.

thank you,

Wow - I really hope your video is frakking amazing! I have to personally contact you and ask you for the password, wait, then go and watch...

Send me the password, I'll check out your video and then chat about it.

While you're at it, here's two "1 man band videos" I have done:

Actually...it is....literally. I like my pot.....:turned:

Get over yourself dude. If folks have to ASK you to see your video....then you are in the wrong business....period.

I'm asking people in this forum if they want to see my video. if they do then i'll show it to them. thanks for editing your comment though.

i don't smoke myself. nuthin wrong with it but I think you'll like this.

I would suggest you just post the password here. The readership is a limited circle. You can change it in a few days to re-protect.

wow...and I though I was the ONLY one...:red_bandana:

just saying...why not let people see it? What's the point in spending the time and energy to produce a product, then put it behind a curtain, only to tell people that they have to ASK to see it? It really makes no sense...even to a burnout like me.

Holy crap Shawn!!!! Those looks AWESOME!
....and NO password???? WTF!!!! lol

BTW...I really meant that...they were amazing vids. I hope to be as talented one day.

I just caught the comment on vimeo and then this thread. Thanks a lot for the comments. Really appreciate it.

Borrgo - no one's hating on you. It's just kind of lame to ask us to do something but only by asking permission. I do owe you comments though.

I did get the password and I did start watching the video. I am not sure if you want comments here or in a PM? I only ask since you password'ed the video - and what is the point of discussing the video here when no one has, or can, see it?

Let me know and I'll post back with my thoughts on your video. I will be constructive, however, no one will know what I'm talking about.... Perhaps just unprotect it for 24 hours? 12?

Hi Shawn,

Great video. I love the lighting in the studio shots.

Only thing I don't get is why the yellow cast for some of the outdoor scenes?
Thank you.
Honestly - I cranked it up because I wasn't happy with a plain blue sky. On that day, there just weren't the cloud filled skies of Hawai'i I'm used too. So I "cheaped" out and cranked the yellows. The decision doesn't have motivation beyond the color, nor did it help "the story". It just made me happy I suppose.

But, it was just before sunset - the last shot in the video was the last shot of the day. Sunset motivated the decision to go yellow.

EDIT: Studio shots were the only "lit" shots, probably why you liked them? They were lit with: Roscoe Lite Panel: http://www.filmtools.com/rosco-litepad-ho-6x12.html
Everything else was 100% natural, no bounce even. I've only recently begun to take cinematography/lighting seriously. Love operating but painting with light is taking over for me.
