  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red's not the only one starting a revolution! MYT Engine

You've all seen the movies. You know what happens to scientists that come up with revolutionary engines, right? :)

This looks incredible.

Would the big players allow this guy to go further, or just another Preston Tucker like game?

The concept is not new. Otto Lutz designed such a swing-piston engine during world-war II in Germany.

There have been several attempts in history bringing this or similar concepts to life. The only one of those egines that is still produced today is the Wankel engine. Mazda is/was? using for their RX8 such an engine. In the late sixties NSU (former Audi) introduced the famous RO80 which ustilised a Wankel engine. This truely revolutinary car (especially in terms of aerodynamics) never took really off.

The big downsides of swing-piston or rotary-piston egines is their lack of torque in low RPMs and the never solved problems with piston gaskets. Plus they were never great in saving fuel.

The concept, however, is fascinating.

I would not put too much into this.

So, is this guy completely unaware of the previous attempts? Maybe this is why this clip is so old? They hit the same barriers.

All IC engines have low torque at low RPM. This might make a very efficient constant speed motor for a generator for a series hybrid vehicle though.

I would bolt one in my old Jeep in a heartbeat.

Great find, I did heard about this before but couldn't find any info as I didn't know what it was called.

Definitely a great invention, and a Huge step forward towards a better life, clean power and economy growth while still getting all the power you want.

I want one of this for my Denali :)

ciao

Well they said clearly it was not a Wankel engine, whatever that means. But yeah, sounds almost too good to be true. They also mentioned huge power output at idle speeds.

But did you notice how the engine can stack together to get more power to weight ratio, very modular modular like the epic...haha.
