Review of Shoot35 SGBlade

Quite possibly the most stylish 35mm adapter yet! Funny how popular the color red is in video equipment these days. = ) Thanks for the review and the test footage, I'd never even heard of the SGBlade before.

I love adapters, I have shot with the Redrock and the Letus Extreme, and both have elevated the look of my productions considerably. Since I've tried the Red, though, I can't help but fantasize about their eventual obsolescence; being able to put a lens of my choice straight on the front of the camera without a big, battery-powered box in between is a pretty refreshing experience. I don't own a Red, but am hoping the Scarlet will allow me this freedom at a slightly lower cost.

Not sure if there's anyone who has as much experience with 35mm adapters as you, Philip. What do you think-- will the availability of cheaper interchangeable-lens video cameras pretty much eliminate the market for adapters altogether, or do they constitute a unique enough look that people will still pursue them?

Derek,

Speaking from a personal point of view, as soon as I can get what I get from a camera without using a 35mm adaptor i will stop using them. Whether that be the eventual evolution of the DSLR market or the Scarlet I don't know.

Certainly two markets would be catered for straight away there. The budget film makers and the pro market. There are two Scarlets I have my eye on and am saving up for them now!

I start using a B4 adaptor for my Letus ultimate this week which will be fantastic but I can't wait until the day that i will no longer need any adaptor! I adore what they do and love them to bits of course and until the alternative is there I will use them day in and day out, but it will be wonderful not to have to deal with their limitations and obvious light loss.

Just my thoughts!
