whats the least expensive solution i can use to get the best real time keyer for use with a red camera. I know conduit2 is great but is there a pc solution? also what is the least expensive card that does the job, the quality of course i prefer to get the best but it will not be for final, just for preview purposes, so im willing to sacrifice some if the price difference is drastic.

Miguel your work is off the hook.
I dont think anyone is responding because your question is not common enough.

no one answers me either. i just got used to it.

Andrew Shanks wrote an article for Creative Cow which compared Lens Feed, Conduit, and Veescope Live for on set keying with a Red One. Veescope Live came out on top:

thanks guys, unfortunately im stuck on pc (VFX world is PC) , and it seems all these are for mac...dang

You can always buy a $30k ultimatte system, or you can buy a Mac to do the exact same thing and more for a fraction of the cost. It's your money.

Haven't used any first-hand, but there are definitely non-Mac solutions out there. Check out Stream Labs (http://www.stream-labs.com/). The Matrox cards support real-time chromakeying, though I'm not sure what software options they offer. Stand-alone box might be easier than any PC (or Mac) though.

Best,
Tim

Brad,

I take it you're from V-Scope based on your avatar. Looks like a good tool for onset preview and live scope. What's the best (cheapest) way to connect the Red to a macbook pro to get the realtime preview?

Also, can the background be a Quicktime as well or is it still only? Will it work in 720p mode? 1080p mode? Can it be used for rough recording?

Thanks!

Best Regards,

Thom
