Looking for advice...

I have about 50k to buy post production hardware to work with the RED. What set up would you suggest?

cheers

My recommendation is spend $1,000 going to NAB in April and use the other $49,000 (and your first-hand knowledge of the latest, greatest, most cost-effective) to put your package together.

That is a great point spend $1000 at NAB and youll have all the answers live and in front of you.
I like that.

If you want to get started now you wouldn't regret getting a Mac Pro 3GHz dual quad. Get it with bare minimum disk and memory, then add 8Gig memory (for a total of 10), a Caldigit RAID card, and 4 Seagate 1.5TB drives. If you set up a RAID5 array you'll end up with 3.7TB of internal disk space.

Hi guys,

I was wondering, what's so significant about April - if Apple have given up on NAB? Do you just mean that the stuff will get shipped before then and therefore be shown there by re-sellers?

Given the rumours of what awaits, in the form of the new Mac Pro, I think it makes sense to wait. March would be much better than April though...
