  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Anybody know how to put REDALERT looks onto a Rushes set up?

I am transcodeing using REDRUSHES
I need to remove all the meta data so i just want
Color Space REDspace
Gamma Space REDspace

How can i do this fast and efficiently. I have multiple rolls of footage hundreds of clips to do.
Right now I know i can do 1 clip at a time in RED Alert but how can I batch that

Instructions would be awesome please

Just set the desired values for one clip and use the resulting .RSX for all clips in your batch. Or am I misunderstanding what you need?
 
Select one clip and open that in REDAlert!, set the gamma and color to redspace, that will automatically generate RSX for that clip.

Then go to REDrushes, select the Look Source as "RSX" then RSX setting option gets revealed and you can set the RSX Source as "Selected RSX", then click on "Select RSX" button to select the RSX you made on the first step.

Redrushes lets you do that in the first tab. Change it from "Look Source" to whatever you want.
 
Is there any advantage to using the Red Alert/Red Rushes transcode method as opposed to Red Alert/FCP Log and Transfer?

For instance is one faster than the other transcoding to say, prores?

Would it be that the first method gives you more resizing control?
 
RA/RR is much faster than L&T if you have enough RAM (about 2 GB per core) and process many clips. Plus, it gives you the option of a full decode.
 
THANKS GUYS! I needed that I think that will solve my issue.

Just to recap
Im going to load say 5 rolls into RedRushes select the 1st clip get that 1st clip into REDALERT reset all my settings getting rid of any meta data that was introduced into the clip during shooting.
Put the Gamma and Color to RedSpace
go back to RedRushes?
Set look source as RSX in RR
then that look will transfer to all of my clips?
any copy and pasting involved?
I need this to happen to all my clips as a batch.

I was going to mention Clipfinder way because that is how I do it, but since you asked about REDrushes and REDAlert!, so. Glad you solved your issue.
