Hey fellas,

Here's the situation:
I edited a sequence in FCP consisting of 1080p ProRes-Quicktime-Movies I created thru RedRushes from R3D-Files. (Complete cliplength each, consistent naming, etc.)
Now that my edit is done I exported an XML-File of this "offline-sequence" (thru Automatic Duck XML Export). When I import it thru "Automatic Duck Pro Import AE" into After Effects CS 4 I get a AE timeline with the ProRes-QTs of course - what I want to do though, since AE CS4 supports R3D nativly, simply replace the QTs with their native R3Ds (with handles an everything, same name, length etc., only different file extension) to do my comp work, color correction etc.:construction:

I could replace each track manually but maybe there's an automated way? (in monkey extract? / crimson? whatever?)

Thanks for your help!!

Load the XML into a decent text editor and do a replace all "001.mov" with "001.r3d" ?

That's what I'd try first. Don't know if the latest Crimson will support this. Don't know if Rubber Monkey will help, either.

I just went through footage replacement hell. Found out the hard way that while AE is a lot more stable than Media Encoder for rendering, it still has some issues with R3D files.. I ended up transcoding all my R3Ds to TIFF sequences. What a pain. Depends on what you're trying to accomplish.

There is a new beta of Clipfinder on my server at http://www.daun.ch/software/Clipfinder2.1.9.beta.zip.
When you select "Run Conform on FCP XML file" you will see that there is now an option to conform to "R3D".
This will do what you want.
You need to point the "Clip Directory" to a folder that contains your original RED material (i.e. the .R3D files).

Cheers,
Hans

XML change of the ".mov" into ".r3d" works perfect in Premiere..I do it all the time, not slick but it gets the work done.

Perfect!!
