So, what are they gonna do with "all" of the RED Ones that come back to them as a result of this offer?

If they're going to just give them away, I'll take one :)

You know in all honesty I'd like to know too...I mean the thought of purchasing a "factory refurbished" RED One is quite appealing.

If they use the returns for tax deduction then they must destroy them I think.

Hi,

As Red would like to sell new cameras, I suspect they will offer used RED Ones above the price of a Scarlet S35, then most Red One owners will upgrade.

Hoping that's true - I'd give $12k for a refurb :)

You might get it for less than that, bear in mind that the new cameras will have a few advantages such as near instant boot time & lower power consumption.

And higher DR and moduler options! :gun:

I love original R1's 20 centuries' ceramic earthenware-pipe design a lot, I like idea of RED ONE V2 (same design of R1 but all new epic feature inside, no-mini-mini-stuff).

Hmmmmm..... A red one bodylike with montro sensor!!! I`m in!!

I have said before, and I will say again, get an artist to weld all the RED ONE bodies togheter as a monument in front of the entrance of the RED Headquaters in Las Vegas, then have a wall with all the serial numbers and their respective owners engraved - that be just awesome!

Eirik, that would indeed be awesome, great idea! That's a job for the Fire Chief. :-) We would be glad to assist with the design. Or keep it simple and weld the bodies to three letters: R E D

refurb

refurb

i too want a refurb red one from red, that'd be great! and i promise i'd pay more than they'd get sellin the scrap metal....:001_tt1: (scrap doesnt pay a lot, at least not for all the stuff i haul outta my house)

really what a shame to scrap them all, i really hope they resell them, i know plenty of students would really appreciate being able to access high end gear, even if they need to buy it used it still beats handycams and anything else students buy...dslr's...etc

or even the schools would appreciate getting them used in bulk...do you believe my university went from using PD150s to flip cams for the freshmen video classes...glad i got out when i did...:emote_headwall:
