  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Did you guys forget about the Red 1?

I have to say, since the new cameras were announced it seems that there is no word on new builds or upgrades to Red post software. Come on, we have build 17 and 18 with playback issues, still no LUT system that's interchangeable with Redcine, Red Alert, Redrushes, and the camera. There was also talk of 4.5k a long time ago. I'd settle with a release build 18 minus the playback and boot hang issues.

You used to get us all prepared for new features: camera and software. Now it seems like you closed down that department. What happened?

I'm still waiting for Redcine to work on one of my four XP machines, or my iMac, and 24bit audio output, as well as Redlog details in whatever form Graeme wants to tabulate it, as well as access to RAW files in an NLE that allows the same level of control as Red Alert and Redcine..
I think they're doing their best, but some things seem to be taking a VERY long time. Some are out of their control, but quite a few are VERY REASONABLE REQUESTS.
Redline for windows would help me personally.

RedCine is working on Imac without problem !

Not to mention the Redcode QT plugin hasn't still been released for PC... On PC you still can't watch the QT proxies, neither do batch conversion to QT from R3D easily... Come on Red people !

BOMB SQUAD is testing new versions of software and firmware as we speak.

That's great news Brent! I'm personally waiting for a new mac version of REDCINE that supports build 18 anamorphic and audio playback. REDCINE is my favorite little on set utility for previewing footage and creating one lights and I'm looking forward to that upgrade. Thanks RED team!

Thanks Brent. I second that Mike. Redcine is still where it's at for me. It doesn't need audio though if there is a cross program LUT like the rsx file that can be made in redcine and applied to red rushes.

By the way, letting us know that stuff is being tested is always a great way to show you care.

The same happens to me. I haven't been able to get Redcine to work on my Macbook Pro since I got my Red One 2 months ago. When trying to load a .R3D file, it only shows black...
I have the Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT. Not sure if that helps anyone...

Jordi, i had the same problem.. te only thing i needed to do is touch the CURVES on redcine and the image just popup!! go to color in redcine and play with the curve

this is camera, not redcine-related.Reseting the look in camera and not just dialing everything back to 0 should resolve the black image thing in redcine.

great to hear, but a little late, cause I just created a big issue on my work station when trying out different video card drivers... even after rolling back I can't get my second monitor to fire up! :glare:

I hope the XP version increases compatibility.

Thanks for the efforts!

Dont worry guys, development is still rolling right along on the RED ONE.. There are some new "big" things coming down the pike for the RED ONE, and some old things being cleaned up as we speak.. Priority is fixing some of the remaining bugs that are still looming out there., and unfortunately that is not a particularly fast process.

On the software side... things have been a bit slower than normal in REDCINE as the software guys are spending alot of time helping 3rd parties with support with the SDK.... which in the end most likely has the better pay-off for all of you... that said, expect a new REDCINE release this week.

Just touch the exposure slider and it will come up. Sometimes mine is black and some times its not. I thought it was the exposure was setting itself to off so I changed it in the camera but that didn't do anything.

BTW... everything we do for the RED ONE translates to Scarlet and EPIC. We have no reason to stop development. This stuff is just plain harder than anyone thought.
