  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New Panasonic Monitor...

It's a really nice monitor. A beautiful picture.

Well it's bigger. ;-)

More importantly it's NATIVE 1920x1080 resolution, uprezzing 720p when that signal is fed to it.

I was looking through the review on a Japanese magazine yesterday, but the spec. doesn't show 10-bit panel (although it says it covers 130% 709) but I guess it has to be?

I own 1700 but it is know to be too green for us Japanese (guess because our eyeballs are black?). I hope this one is more balanced.

But the lineup is know to be very reliable in whatever the signal you put in, really rugged and very good in motion. Wish Panasonic the best in this one.

Oh, it support gamma 1.8, then how would it help with the FCP/Color video hardware output being 1.8 and the file output from FCP/Color gets affected by graded in that circumstances?

too bad it does not support 4:4:4.

You can't feed it a 4:4:4 signal? That is a shame, cause they got the resolution right!

I wonder what could fit on the additional 120 vertical? Not a full histogram unless the 1080 was shifted to the top and you got the whole thing in one band, plus that doesn't give you that tall of a histogram making the peaks harder to judge...

How and for what will they use it?

and how will the price of the 26" be affected? I mean it is only 720p yet quite close in cost... and in a perfect world that would also push the price of the 17 down a bit... anyone expect them to drop a bit brand new?

Well, it's inexpensive so they must have skipped on the 4:4:4. Panasonic doesn't have 4:4:4 format, so.

You can find 4:4:4 compatible Class 1 LCD panels from Tamuz and TVlogic, but do people think they can do justice to 4:4:4 materials?

I have little clue about this stuff Kaku, I wouldn't begin to guess what would go into that answer, as you've probably noticed I have mostly just questions :usd:

what will be the competitors?

:)

I guess the competitors would be TVLogic's production level display models, Sony Lumas (ONLY the new ones, older ones weren't good) and Quatos, I guess.
