  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

4K Challenge - 72hr RED Film Competition

Can we upload a 1080P to Vuze? I believe in your instructions it says 720. Just want to make sure we get it right. We're about to begin upload process.

Here's a tease. Hopefully there isn't a gamma issue. let me know if there is.

I'll be posting our workflow in the next couple of days. Everything ran pretty smoothly, especially considering the timeline. We used a Native R3D workflow, which we will detail.

We managed to pull together a great crew, a good location, and a few Redusers along for the ride. Best of luck to everyone. We're looking forward to watching all of the films.

question !!

in the rules it states that the "story" should be 5 minutes or less.. and the beginning and end credits together, should be "up to" 1 minute..

is it ok to have the film 6 minutes exactly, with story continuing over credits.? just want to be specific and clarify the details, for our final cut..

thanks !!

Meryem....

You're ruining my fun with that up-beat post of yours. Hehe... Anyway, the edit is done and I'm about to upload. Erik and I cut and re-cut and tweaked and we have something that actually works. Run time is 3min, 26 seconds, not including credits.

We decided to do the grand experiment and we edited this entirely on my 2.33GHz MacBook Pro w/ external RAID, using Adobe CS4. This was my first foray into that workflow, other than to load up Premiere and load an R3D just to see if it worked. The Premiere workflow is amazing and the MacBook handled like a champ, even though it's over 2 years old. I will admit that we're running final output from a 2K sequence from one of my Mac Pro systems. I didn't want to wait for the MBP to render from 4K via half-high with full quality debayer. We did a little color grading on it, but honestly ran out of time to give it the full treatment we would have liked. Or at least that was mostly the case due to our workflow decision. The editing took far longer than we had anticipated and not because of any problems with hardware or software. Just a complex script and some very difficult edits to make with the footage we have. The workflow did present some software issues or bugs, but nothing show-stopping that couldn't be worked around in a few minutes.

We encountered some real issues with audio and had to call back Bucky to re-record his voice over last night. Erik and I did our foley work in a parking lot at 10:00PM, recording footsteps, car door being shut, engine revving and more. I had never used SoundBooth before, but I think I have a pretty good handle on it now. Spent several hours just cleaning and tweaking audio and could have easily spent several more. IMO, the sound is the weakest link in our production here, but what to do... No actual sound crew and no controls for our exterior shots or what we did at the pub, oh, well...

Anyway, I think everyone involved in our production did an outstanding job and it was a lot of fun.

...And the render just finished and it looks like we have a gamma issue of some sort. Grrr.... Now to troubleshoot.

Great Frame grab. And just want to thank you for inviting me to join in the fun. I had a great time shooting for the film and learned so much from the gang. Working with the level of DP was great and operating the camera for the first time in real production mode was a blast.

Cannot wait to see the final version and just want to say thanks to everyone for the hard work over the past few days and also for the great time and new friends I made.

Cheers
Ron

I've now spent two hours trying to get Adobe Media Encoder to render my project (I'm running XP). It renders individual scenes fine, but as soon as I try to render the full project, it freezes showing one second elapsed. I'm set to QT 720x480, H.264...

Has anyone else had problems with this?

Thanks,
Tim

Anyone else not able to publish their entry on Vuze?

I can't even access Vuze.com right now....

Jeff
Your right, Vuze seems to be dead in the water, no response to anything.

So much fun! Thanks to Luca Immesi (esperimentocinema) for inviting me to DP. First time for me with a R1, despite been a "believer" and a JJ fan since Boris and Natascha were renders. What a Wonderful camera. So logic and intuitive. No downside. Well...except such a prehistoric weight (I know there is a reason. But I'm used to HVXs, not film cameras).

 Looks like the site is totally down. When you do a trace route to the server there is no response. Same to pings, so someone needs to contact Vuze directly, but the problem is with the site down, you cannot get to the contact page for the company.

Maybe all the Red Users uploading there fantastic footage killed the system:biggrin:

Hi Guys

Vuze is dead.. why does vuze make this complicated

Hey everyone, just to be clear. You must export and upload 1280x720 (720p) to Vuze.
However, Vuze is having a few technical problems. Don't worry, because of this delay you will have the rest of the day today to upload your submission to Vuze. No one will be penalized due to this temporary issue.
I know you guys have worked extremely hard and this can be frustrating but get some rest and try uploading again later today.
Thanks for your efforts and everything should be back online soon.

Everyone at Vuze is working hard to get the system online after some technical issues they experienced. Trust me, this never happens. Murphy's Law is in the house!
I'm in communication with the higher ups and they send their appologies for the delay. I will keep you all informed as to when Vuze is back online.
Thanks for your understanding and patience.
