  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

"The Book Of Eli", staring Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman and Mila Kunis is the latest feature film, as well as the largest budget to date, to shoot with the RED Digital Cinema camera.

Congrats. To me, the fact that any large budget movie would use RED is a true testament to how great the camera is.

9 months ago I rented a PL lens and the local rental guys proceeded to tell me RED wouldn't replace a 435. Fair enough. He even went on to explain to me why RED sucked though it was clear to me he didn't have a clue what he was talking about. 2 months ago the same guy told me they hadn't rented their 435 in 4 months but they were renting their lenses all the time. They were going out on RED shoots. They since ordered multiple REDs.

There are still some guys out there poo pooing RED. They're just making themselves look stupid at this point.

Congrats and thanks for sharing the news, Danzel is by far one of my favorite ones, no matter what He does He delivers, great to know that RED is used in this film.

Which Rental house supplied cameras?
Or were they supplied to production by Red?

To me, it seems like you're finally admitting RED was originally intended to be a big scam, but has done more good than harm to everyone :)

Wouldnt it be more financially reasonable to purchase a few RED ones and then re-sell them or keep them for future shoots rather than rent? The cameras are quite affordable and would probably be best to own it over rent. But that's just me and would like to hear some input.

I would also like to share you multiple feature films being shot with red on in India especially in chennai.

Achchamundu achchamundu
Ethirmarai
Untitled film (real image)

And many more to come. All the above are Tamil films and couple of of Hindi and Telegu films in discussion. Red recognized long back from our part of world and IRS Hollywood turn to recognize digital cinema camera and especially red.

Yes it is. That could have been the case.
If it was I just like to know from a business aspect.
However production would still have needed, technical support, lenses, FF, filters, legs heads, monitors etc.
It could have been that some kind of a camera came from Red, rented from Red, bought from Red and the rest of the complimentary gear came from a rental house.
If possible I would like to know.
 
... only the power of knowledge from the sacred book (held by Denzel) can save the masses,
and Oldman wants nothing more than to get his greasy hands on those tattered pages ...

It will be interesting to see what you're capable of when you do know what your doing.

Sorry guys, must be my ADD.
The movie is to be shot during 2009 or 2010.
So lets wait and see.
