Im looking for a Doorway Dolly that can be used on the ground, and also on tracks. Something that is easy to setup and work with. I want something that isnt complicated that wont ADD stress to a shoot. I was looking at a Spider 4 wheel dolly but the FLEX tracks look like they wont work good for uneven surfaces, for instance if I was shooting on the side of a rocky hill etc. Price range would be from 2k to 6k..

Thanks!!

Also anyone know of any Polarizer for the RED?

The dolly you describe sure sounds like a Panther Husky dolly. Available with track wheels, hard rubber wheels and soft tires. It's a platform (dorrway) dolly that folds for transport and there is an available adjustable column with various interchangeable mounts.

Available from Abel. PM me for more info. We can work with you price range.

I suggest just buying a normal doorway dolly (matthews, modern studio, or norms studio), getting modern studio skater wheels, and some steel track from Norms. All of that together will run under $3k and if you ever want to use a dolly like a fisher, you've got the skater wheels and track already. Easy to setup and hard to break. I know flexable track looks really attractive, but I've only ever had trouble with it.

I owned the Lossmandy Spider dolly. It works fine on steel track, but the flex track is too soft and there is too much friction with between the wheels and the track, very hard to get a smooth move. Especially with an operator riding the dolly. It's a good small dolly on steel track.

I haven't work with it, but the Indie dolly looks like another good small dolly option that is fairly inexpensive and has a metal track option.

The MAtthews "RED" edition Dolly seems nice but never used, but I can tell you that their Matthews Round-D-Round Doorway Dolly is great, and love it also for tight circle motion, off trucks, it says 6' circle but it comes up to be just under 7', great turning ratio, no matter were you try to directed it goes, on tracks everything is good, well kind of, but on the asphalt, concrete this thing shines, expandable and many accessories to buff it up in any configuration, including a Bazooka, Mini crane multiple seats, low mode etc.

B&H has the best price on this here: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ..._Round_D_Round_Doorway_Dolly.html#accessories

ciao

I've got the Indie dolly, bouth straight and curved track, and it works really nice. Takes a bit of set up to dial in the wheels at first, but I've used it outdoors on grass and sand, using cardboard to help smooth out the surface. It's a nice sturdy piece of equipment.

Now, I want a doorway dolly as well.

Out of the two Matthews ones, which is better the RED or the other?
