What is the difference between GlueTools and Crimson ?

Which one do i need for FCP-REDCINE-DPX-Color-FCP workflow ?

thanks

Antoine

Thanks Gunleik,

Could you summarize the workflow ?

Is it simple and fast ?

Antoine

Cut from proxies
export fcp xml (not more than... not so many clips pr sequence)
Open xml in crimson
export RedCine xml and intermediates from crimson
Import intermediates in RC
Open RC xml
Onlelight to redlog
export DPX
Drag dpx's into fcp
export edl
open color
import edl
relink media
CC (NOT for 25 fps...)
render dpx
corrected media into FCP (shot by shot)
Do something with it :)

Which will give better results?

Which will give better results?

Hi,
Which will give better results for a 4K shoot?Your workflow or ..

1. Edit in FCP with native RAW
2. Send to Color
3. CC and output to DPX for 2K print to film.

or what is the difference in the two workflows:sarcasm:

Harcharan,

How do you edit native RAW in FCP? I wish I could, life would be so much simpler for me.

Hi Harcharan,

This 3 steps workflow is very simple, and it works, but i have not obtained the same image quality as i get in REDCINE and REDAlert

As soon FCP will have an updated RED image processing, it will happily fly.

But for now, for super image quality, i think REDCINE and REDAlert are still the way to go.

Gunliek,

Pertty simple workflow ? :):):)
Seriously, is there a faster way ?

Antoine

To work with AJA wrapped dpx's is simpler and faster. Then you can "send to color" and "send to fcp". You need luts in color to compensate not only for the viewing media, but also for gamma and color issues in fcp, if you are to use compressor for exporting.

Hi Gunliek,

Excuse my ignorance, but when Compressor comes into play, and how does it work ? I use Compressor only for MPEG2 DVD...

Normally, i click "send to color" in FCP...

Also, where can we get those Luts for AJA 10 bit RGB codec ?

I use AJA codec and LHe card, but the AJA codec shifts gamma big time in FCP and in QT player.

thanks

Antoine
