After returning from the holidays, I noticed the new plug-ins for FCP and Premiere. My question is, what are the advantages between the two platforms with regards to speed and true native support?
Can FCP drag R3D directly into the timeline? I noticed the log and transfer setup, but I wasn't sure if that was just for Prores transfer or all Red footage. I have always felt that FCP had a much slower P2 workflow than Premiere, Vegas or even Avid because everything had to be transferred to QT (thus more disc space as well).
I've seen the tutorials for Premiere's workflow and how easy it is to drag into the timeline. Are there draw backs with that already? Can it support full 10bit?
Last but not least, is Color or AE generally preferred for grading RED footage? This is concerning metadata and quality versus Redcine.
Thanks.
