  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

4K Challenge - 72hr RED Film Competition

Hehe... OK. I just have a nagging fear that we'll have a blizzard that weekend and the competition will require a location of a sunny beach. So then we have to draw straws to see who gets to slog through 2 feet of snow to pick up a truckload of frozen sand we can dump in front of the greenscreen. :)

Seriously though, I was just curious. Ultimately, it's probably better we all don't know. Keeps everyone more honest about starting on time when no one knows what to expect.

Darn it, Hey Mike, I guess we have to scrap the whole "Must film a scene on the moon" location requirement.....:umm:

Hehe. Moon location would be fine with me, actually. :)

I'm in the same boat as you. We just got 18" of snow about 2 days ago, and we expect to have at least 12 more inches tomorrow. Heeehaaaa...

We haven't had much yet this year around Denver. Just a inch of half-frozen slushy crap hanging around from a storm a few days ago. I think we're supposed to get some more on Sunday. Some mountain areas are getting dumped on real good so far this year.

Hummm.....maybe an Ice-cone will be a prop...heee haa hoo...eh sorry....

I'm in Chicago so I feel you on the nasty snow, but i don't mind it much so long as I can see the sun...

Well I don't mind the snow either, what I don't like is shoveling snow, and then having to shovel it again since that big truck came in and push it back in my parking, and then having to shovel it again because it won't stop snowing and then...

Wait, I could make a short about shoveling snow... how about that?

...You could make that short. It might appeal to those in certain warmer regions. I personally would find it offensive to watch such a thing, especially if I have to go shovel more snow myself after I finish watching it.

What's the deadline for registering? I cannot find it...

The registration deadline is Wednesday January 14th, 2009.

If anyone has any other questions feel free to ask here or at mike@4kchallenge.com.

UPDATE: We are in the process of speaking with more potential sponsors at the moment and although we don't want to promise anything more at this time, there is a good possibility of a larger prize pool with more winners.

There are no limitations to anyone joining the competition from any country. Just make sure you make the timed deadlines like everyone else.
Good luck and looking forward to your submission.

I'm wondering the same as Dominique. I'll be registering our team today or tomorrow as well. Still trying to keep the ball rolling on this end.

There are about 10 teams registered so far. I expect more that are waiting closer to the deadline to see if everything falls into place with their team.
Regardless there will be a 4k Challenge starting January 16th!

Awesome. I'm registering my team tomorrow. Hope everything holds together for the big weekend. :)
