Monkey Extract now supports Final Cut XML

Hi Guys,

Monkey Extract now supports Final Cut XML as well as EDL.

This is for workflows:

- from Final Cut to DPX
- from final cut to Quicktime

The advantage is that you can render complex projects with multiple tracks etc.

The feature is beta, let me know if anyone has any issues with it.

One thought: Have you considered including a "smart extract" option that would change the render resolution based on the frame size? In other words, if you're rendering a show that consists primarily of 4K files and you're using 1/2 High, if Monkey encounters a 2K file it could automatically render it as Full. You could make the alternate resolutions a user choice, and allow presets for 4K, 3K, and 2K (the common resolutions at this point in time). This is something a number of people are probably struggling with using current tools. I know I am, and the only current solution is to separate all 2K footage and render it separately - not a great answer. I believe that you can come up with something better.....

Be nice to have the ability to number DPX sequences from frame 0 to the last frame in sequence... - for an easy AE import. I was told that it is limited in redline. But may be you can add an action that does it after the render?

xml is not working here also. (demo version) it crashes.

working with edl from the same project/sequence is producing empy folders entitled "_thumbnails"

mac os 10.4.11
all red soft newest versions

my mistake - works now (with proxies).
wrong name convention.

i was using native import from Log& transfer, and therefore the names were different then i thought.

when using proxy files. everything was ok. both ways - via edl and via xml.

if using log and transfer - and native option - crashes.

I've tested the log and transfer and can't crash it. Are you renaming the red files during the import? Can you email your XML and monkeybase.dat file to craig at rubbermonkey.co.nz and he will track down the issue.

to clarify:

xml works both ways properly. i made mistake yesterday somehow. today xml works without problem

BUT

edl is NOT working properly. i can reproduce this wrong behaviour any time you wish (tested the same thing four times). but for some reason i cannot reproduce the crashing but anyhow the program is not working properly, but making empty folders.

edl from proxies works ok
edl from log & transfer - not ok.

i prepared the monkey files, XML files, and EDLs and especially for you made two videos (video capture with my comments), but one file is 19Mb in size, so i am sending you PM with additional info about FTP server i am using, so you can download all files needed.

It is not regarding the new version... I dont know which of the two half render settings will be choosen, because only one is shown. Can we have both options of half debayer ?

Hi Rainer,

The latest version 2.014 has all debayer options... 1/2 full and 1/2 high are included. Are you talking about an older version?
