Hey Guys

So I am about to start preping for a feature in January and I have been charged with deciding on the equipment and advising which workflow we will be using. After ALOT of reading, having discussions with people on this forum and talking with my DOP, we have decided to shoot in 2K and then convert the proxies in red rushes to be edited in FCP and then roundtriped through colour for CC. Our intended finish will be to go to DVD but with the possiblity of going to a film out, but not a certainty at this stage. My questions are, firstly is this a suitable workflow for a feature. From what ive read its the easiest workflow for a production that wants to finish as much as they can in house.

My second question relates to gear we have to hire and purchase to make this possible. This is the equipment are looking at using for the film.

2 x 8 core Mac Pro machines with 8 GB Ram. One will be used for editing and the other will be used for transcoding dailies and also for the VFX artist to do his work.

Raw files will be stored on exteral RAID Drives (files backed up twice, maybe three times if there is enough room). The ProRes files will be stored and edited on the Internal Raid Drive on the editing Mac Pro.

A 24" Apple Display will be used as the monitor on the Editing machine, with an LCD used to playback dailies and for colour correction.

Is there anything else that i am missing from this list? Will i need a Kona card to display HD playback on the LCD or would a HD firewire drive be suffice for playback. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

You may want to have onset monitoring and playback in HD!
