New boss at Leica AG, CEO Andreas Kaufmann found out that is good for the company because their glass have been used before by Panavision for Primo L set and other lenses, also Dalsa made its own FF35 mm Leica lens set for rental.

In general it's good for Leica's brand image to do something with movies.

Today Zeiss adverising its still glass telling people that is the same technology involved in production like with their cine lenses :).

Some things never change.

Some things never change.

That is exactly the same story we were given when we approached them. We had to have a minimum of 6 sets per order for the quality control to be able to choose them for us. TC.:whistling:

Hi Tony

That seems a good price...(I wish the pound was back where it was) you might want to throw them on a projector and see if they still cover the circle needed for a FF35 (epic). If yes I think you'd want to double the price! I personally know of no other lenses (for sale)of Lietz quality (and motion ergonomics) that could be used to produce Vistavision like images...

kind regards

Michael Lindsay

Dear Michael
These lenses will cover VistaVision as they were originally computed for Stills 35 full frame coverage. As for price; I thank you for your concerns, However; the price is based upon market value and I could wait a year to get a high price such as that. They are a complete bargain at the price I am asking. So....why not come and buy them?
TC.

Very good lens set price before Leica will announce its own cine lens set soon.

The VD conversions are mechanically unbelievable, I doubt they will be bettered.

I've spent more than enough recently on lenses:pinch: 7 ultra's +1 optimo DP and only my modest needs working them at the moment..

In the conversion is it theoretically possible to restrict the passage of light not contributing to the active picture. I suspect you are right about coverage... just wondering if its noticeable on a projector.

I'm sure they will be bought before I'm tempted...

Kind regards

PS I have bought form Tony and his service is excellent!

These lenses do cover 8 perf or Vistavision, and are only bettered by the Master Primes which are undoubtably the pinnacle of current lens design.
I have a set of these primes, and also the three macro lenses, which if anything are even more outstanding, and as Stephen says, the mechanics are superb.
My set is the faster T1.6 set made from the summilux glass.
Although the set on offer is slightly slower, probably made with the summicron glass, the quality will be wonderful, and can be used wide open without any fear of quality issues.
Just try pulling focus at wider than T2 on FF35 and you will probably welcome the extra DOF.
These lenses are extremely rare, and at the price they are being offered, they are a 'no brainer',especially with the exchange rate the way it is,and the coming of Epic.
I bought my lenses from Tony, and I can recommend him extremely highly, not only is he a very friendly man,but his knowledge of equipment of all kinds is vast, possibly equal to that of Mr Gross from Abel, who I also hold in great respect for his balanced and knowledgeable posts to this forum.
I'm not connected in any way with Tony, except as a satisfied customer.
Should anybody want to contact me about my experiences with these lenses, please feel free to PM
me.
Tom.

What can I say!!! except Thankyou ! However I always try to have excellent prices for good equipment. I try not to sit on a store full of overpriced kit waiting for an exotic sale but take a more mundane view of business. Everyone must be happy after the sale and purchase transaction.
Kind regards
TC.
ps: The lenses are still available and NO the price will not get lower if you wait.

The lenses are superb. We have a set and I think they're top notch. And Tony is a stand up guy with years more experience in the industry than I. I actually purchased some gear from him myself when I was an independent DP before I worked at Abel.

Hi Tony,

How are you? I thought I should just drop a line here.

I have to second what Michael, Thomas and Mitch said, Tony is a very nice guy. He doesn't sell garbage, he sells good quality equipment with a very good price! Plus, very good customer service! where else do you find a seller like him?

Tony is like a walking encyclopedia of the film industry. He's a one of the few wise-men in the UK and worldwide. If you know Tony, or get to know Tony, you'll agree with me.

I have bought equipment before from Tony, and I plan to continue buying equipment from him. I'm a satisfied customer as well :)

Just my humble opinion.

Have a nice Christmas everybody.

Best,

Yuri Kawana

Forgive my ignorance but my understanding is that the coverage of a lense is in part a function of the type of mount used. PL being fairly limiting...

It looks like a wonderful set of glass, just trying to understand.

If I'm understanding you correctly you are saying that these lenses on a PL mount will cover the FF35 sensor.

Sitting next to my desk is a set of lenses in PL mount that cover the Phantom 65's 52.5mm x 35mm sensor. It is harder for a lens in PL mount to do this, but not impossible.
