  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Debayering R3D's in the new FCP>Color Workflow

But what about 4k to 1080 via "half high" then a small re-scale, compared to 4k direct to 1080?

Yeah, this is my concern as well. The best solution here would be to just shoot 4KHD for 1080p deliverables, but you can't really work with 4KHD footage in FCP at the moment. It doesn't recognize 960x540 -- the resolution of the _M proxies for 4KHD footage -- as valid for Unlimited RT. It obviously recognizes 1920x1080 as valid, but even an 8-core Mac Pro can't play back the _H proxies at full frame rate on an FCP timeline, so that doesn't do us any good either.

Unfortunately this probably has to be fixed on Apple's end, which means it'll probably be awhile.

Maybe someone finds a hack? I remember once seeing a hack for Photo-JPEG at off RT sizes…
