  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New High Speed Compact Flash Card!!!

I second Tom's questions. I am wondering how several manufacturers can claim that their CF cards are the fastest at 305x, 333x, 350x, etc. when it has been said that RED's cards are the equivalent to 500x or 550x. Is it a proprietary read/write format that RED has designed?

Like Tom asked...how would they work in a normal DSLR, like the new 5D Mk II? It would be good to be able to use them in all cameras... maximizing the investment as they ARE expensive.

Thanks for any information

Larry
They are fast for stills shooting. I think the problem comes in when you are shooting 24fps video and the card needs to sustain a data rate of 40MB/s. Most companies don't provide accurate sustained data rates. Red needs consistency in the read/write times, otherwise errors occur. Hence the need to develop their own 16gb card because no one was making one that could sustain the data rate they needed to support higher resolution and frame rates.

Has anyone tried the Pretec 16GB or 32GB x333 cards?
