Leica R Lens / Contax Yashica Zeiss lens to Red & Bigger mount?

Also concerning the bigger mount, could someone resume me briefly what is the current situation? Do i have to wait months and months before i have it if i order it tomorrow? Is it smooth to set up and use on a shoot?

Actionproducts.ch is selling a Leica R mount, and there is the infamous PS technik IMS mount with all the mounts you need, however warranty is still voided, AFAIK Red and PS technik will have a meeting in the new year, we'll see how things will develop....

You would need a Leica R to EOS mount adapter to use on either the Alesniak or Birger mounts. You can find the adapters on eBay.

Yes, i have seen some adapter on Ebay... But i will prefer to be sure the combinaison of one of these 2 adapters and a Red actuallty work correctly...


I'm not sure i could give really trust the Bigger or the "EF smart mount" to what i have seen.. The IMS seem more reliable in a way but when don't really know how soon we could solve this warranty issue.. Look like people like me who are based on Canon mount are a bit trapped now isn'it?

Yeah, Vincent... I hear you... the road to gain the ability to use 35mm still photography lenses on the RED One has been a grievously difficult one for a lot of folks.

Action products just send me some pictures of the components for the Leica R mount. It looks very good and seems there are no warrenty issues.

I've been looking at rehoused PL mounted Leica lenses and also the possibility of using Leica stills lenses on a R mount. The Leica mechanics seem excelent and from what Im told would be the best suited Stills lens for motion picture work closely followed by the Zeiss stills lenses. Is this the view shared by other users also ?

"Seems" being the operative word. As anyone who has followed the Birger thread of late will testify: seeming/implying is not good enough when it comes to warranty. Only a clear statement from RED will do.

Otherwise you may end up not barely losing your warranty, but the trade-in ability for an EPIC body/system.
