Until I can test for myself, has anyone tried this combination yet?

Will the O.D. of the lens fit into the mattebox?
If so, does the mattebox vignette at 18mm?
If it doesn't vignette at 2 stages, could it go 3?

Just received the lens, now waiting on mattebox options... Rather not go 6x6 if possible.

Thanks to those that reply.

Works with two Panavision size stages, no 138mm round. Not sure about three stages.

Great pics David, thanks for posting them.

So basically, pull the 138mm round back off put a donut around the lens and your good to go? Fantastic!

Was pretty worried about a possible vignette at 18mm, this helps quite a bit.

Thanks again.

I believe the lens was specifically designed with the MB20-II in mind since RED is aware that so many camera owners have purchased this mattebox. Note that the built in matte on the front of the lens is smaller than a 4x5.65 filter, which means that you can have at least one of these in the mattebox without clipping at 18mm. I'm almost positive you can have two, which is why Arri is making a back for the MMB-1 to fit to this lens (that mattebox has two 4x5.65 filter trays). That said, I'd be very surprised if a third stage in an MB20-II did not cover fully, although this stage might have to be a full 5x5.65 square tray.

Someone with the lens stop by my office in NY one day and will give it a quick try. Just schedule it with me first to make sure I have everything else available at the time.

Thanks for the info Mitch. Any updates would be most appreciated.

Thanks Shawn... anything like this is a huge help. Not many folks out there yet with this lens so any feedback is most appreciated.
