Apple is having its Macworld conference in early January. I would really encourage anyone wanting to purchase a Mac to wait until then, if possible.

Of course, in the world of computers, there will always be something better coming out soon. If you need the Mac Pro now, get it.
However, given that updates are due, if you can wait 3 weeks, you will likely get a better computer for the same amount of money. I wouldn't want to spend a few thousand dollars, only to find out three weeks later that I could've gotten a lot more for the money.
