It seems we are no better off, i haven't found anoyone yet who has a workflow that is working for them. Even with the new FCP updates and codecs. There are problems with RT playback/color/bridged files/QT codecs/ clipfinder.

I have tried everything all day today to try and get a Reference or a proxie to play smooth in my timeline. nothing works. Tried the wrapped native inmports, Pro res out of Red Rushes, reference file M/H...i was better off before the updates at least i could play a clip with acceptable playback.

Has anyone got a system that works, with FCP, if so pleeease give me some idea of what it is.

RED has been on the market for a year now? i can't afford scratch, WHY IS IT SO EXPENSIVE anyway?....bring the price down, sell more, i would buy the software if it was a couple of thousand dollars. I digress...any help would be most appreciated. Thanks.

2.6 dual core, 12gb ram, raid.

If ProRes is not working real time for you (at what resolution?) then you might have a problem with your system.

Sustained disk speed is definitely an important factor in playing files back properly.

you are right guys there does seem to be a problem with my sytem, i striped my ext raid drive and esata it will run M reference files, wheres M ref files from my system on my MAC with sataII drives will notm can you think of any settings i need to look at?

Yep, you might want to check your system. I mostly use the Crimson workflow , exactly like the Crimson demo video Ian made, and it works perfectly on my MacBook pro... I use an external Iomega UltraMax Pro 1.5 Tb (always use "Pro" drives for speed ie Firewire 800) for the footage and I get unlimited RT...
