I got the new 16gig cards and they seemed to work fine with my newly installed CF module on B17. Now that I downgraded to build 16 because it's not as buggy as 17, my 16 gig cards say that they are too slow for the Red camera. Not that they are too slow for my camera settings, like with the 8gig cards, but that they are too slow for the camera. I can't get them to work and I can't format them. Anybody know what to do?

Thanks. I thought build 16 could also deal with 16gig cards. I decided not to use B17 because I get more boot hangs (almost 50% of the time). Playback is very buggy. I get errors at least 25% of the time when I playback from camera if audio was also recorded. Worst of all, I got a corrupt video file "invalid public movie atom" and other people have had the same. That is unacceptable and why I switched back to B16.

Lucky you. I wish I didn't have any of those problems.

A lot of people have been having the boot hang problems as well as the playback ones. The corrupt files, I've only heard of from two other people.

Here too. Is there an update soon? I would go to the 18 beta but I guess some of the post software stuff only works through 17.

yeah boot hangs are much more but that is not a deal breaker for the benefits of 17

Is B17 that much better that its worth the *possible* boot hangs, playback hangs, and "invalid public movie atom" that I have been hearing about? Our 16 GB cards are on the way, but we had held back on B17 after hearing so much about all the listed above.

Hey Will,

I'm on build 18 beta right now which has performed great for me. Couple small freezes, not on boot up, but when navigating the menus. Other than that it has been rock solid and I've put over 100hrs on it so far. I think its pretty safe once you get the cards i would update. Maybe skip 17 and go straight to 18 beta. Or just wait for the release 18. Far as i know though build 18's only update was anamorphic desqueeze but they could have made other changes as well. Anyhow, you can always try 17, test it and if you are having issues go back to release 16.

B18 beta here too.. Been working fine for me since I installed it. I haven't used the camera much since installing it though. One boot hang, like only my 3rd or 4th one ever, but I'm attributing it to an improperly seated battery.

I pretty much skipped over B17 and went to B18 beta due to my project schedules.

I'd love to go back to B17. I have 16gig cards that are basically useless right now. I guess the build work s differently on some people's cameras, but a lot of people have been having these problems since switching. Not just a few. Maybe a release build 18 will solve the problems.
