  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Economy...

I have received a lot of emails regarding RED and the economy... especially given the announcements of Canon, Nikon and Sony's drastic cutbacks in development and massive layoffs.

RED is charging forward at full steam. There are no layoffs, no development cuts and no slowing down.

While we expect that sales will be slower next year of everything, we don't mind. Our goal is to to make the best stuff for professionals, and continue to do so. When our professional customers can afford what we are doing... we will be ready.

Sleep tight. RED is awake.

Jim

Always a refreshing news to hear that one of, if not the one company you most care of their products is still pushing the envelope no matter what, truly look forward to a GOOD 09 with RED.

ciao

Preorder. Preorder. Preorder. Preorder. Preorder.

Pleeeaaassseeee?

I see him more as the Tony Stark of digital cinema and all the other companies are like the rest of the engineers at Stark Industries that couldn't build that tiny power generator that can power a suit.

This is a good metaphorical comparison as well.

But... Batman kicks ass, so there!

So if Jim is Batman, who's Robin?

That would be Jarred.

It's full steam ahead over here in the South of France. Down turn is forcing us to move carefully and improve our production efficiency as much as possible. Some acquisitions are on hold but not our Scarlet S35!

Thanks Jim and the RED team.

My Wife also was okay with me wanting to buy two 2/3" Fixed. As she produced my last Movie she wanted me to explain everything to her. To you guys op there. It's good when your wife cuts you of after a few minutes talking. ;-)

But the "We can do 3d and if we do 2d we have two cams for shots" got me in there I think :-)

openSource == betterSoftware

So maybe that's an option. But then - Not sure if they could protect REDCODE in openSource architecture. Any experts care to chime in?

BTW : Glad RED are pushing through the barrier with all of the economic concerns. You're a relatively nimble organisation, so I honestly can't see you guys having too many problems. Buying power may be slightly decreased in general over the next couple of years - But as long as RED can meet it's promises you have a large number of guaranteed sales.

Economy goes down and BLING ... RED decided to go professional.

I lost financial backing during that perfect storm of Sep/Oct, but I'm not giving up. I told Red to hold on to my deposit. It's just going to take a little longer for me, and the plus side is I will retain more of the points.
