Hi Guys,

I was wondering if you guys ever experiencing where RED CINE cannot do browsing or locating a file. It happened to one of our client machine.

Here's the case, we load R3D files (intermediate from crimson to be exact) into RedCine, but when we tried to load (project settings - open) the xml, we cannot do any browsing. Tried to click on volume, user, it wont display anything to the right. Very strange. But if we start fresh, like no R3D in the library, we can do the browsing. Odd but yet happen.

OSX 10.4.11, Geforce7300 (i dont think it has anything to do with the graphics card). We tried delete redcine preferences in library, it doesnt solve anything. Upgrade to latest QT, OS X, nothing..weird..

Any thought ?

Thanks

flameop, doesnt matter what you choose, all files or not. It just didnt want to browse. Not even a folder appeared. Only left side, the root of the HDD, like user, volume...etc. It wont show its child folder at all.

I cant think of anything how it could happen this way. It doesnt seem to be logic. I can browse when i didnt load anything, but once you load any R3D, that's it. I will try to find out more tomorrow.

This may happen if you take in more raw-material than RedCine thinks you really need... :)

Try exporting a smaller/shorter cut, and retry.

I didnt find any post in regards of this matter. Maybe i missed out something ? I'm beginning to think that we have to reinstall the whole system.

Look at the last screenshot. Same problem, right?

Agree, reinstall (and trash prefs) is something you have to do regularly with REDCINE. Although it might not help in this case.

I think this bug is caused by you loading a certain combination of R3D files into Redcine.

Why don't you just load the XML file from a fresh project?

Gunleik, no..it was from intermediate R3D from Crimson. I load what we needed, that's all. After loading, it the same like what Bruce posted...We will try shorter cut and see.

Yes Bruce, exactly the same thing. Cant do any browsing. If i load XML files, what is it going to refer to if i dont load any R3D ? I have delete everything inside Library/RedCine, no help. I will see if setting depth will help. The last chance is fresh install everything, if it doesnt work, i would suggest them to put on e-bay or donor it to someone else or to me... :D

I dont see this behavior on our Mac Pro machines, it runs fine and even my personal MacBook Pro. Strange that it happened on our client machine.

I will try Bruce, will posted update tomorrow ! Thanks for the reply..appreciate it very much

100 clips loaded here.. can still browse :-/

I have a 430 clip project working (had to load in sections).

If I try to load the first 3 days' worth of *the same* footage used in my 430-clip project (doing one import per day), I hit the SAD PANDA ERROR.

It's really unpredictable and will bite you on the ass when it's inconvenient.

it appears randomly, most machine will runs just fine. But some unlucky one, will face this. I dont face this on our machines either.

Probably nothing to do with this, but could it be something to do with OS/Redcine illegal filenames or too long file names or too many filenames in a branch of folder trees?

Haven't used my incomplete RED Ones yet, so total novice with RED workflow, but it sounds a bit like that Windows limit on filename length or number of files in a folder?

Just thinking aloud!
